Have to feel for Pricey, think most of us wanted more success for a man who is so graceful

Given the mental issues that are so clear it's going to be a struggle for him to reach his early potential

Does seem like everyone likes him and wants him to do well.

Fingers crossed he can sort himself out, but I'm not going to be betting my savings on it

over training can be really bad when you are trying to be competitive, if you are not then you just rest if you dont feel too good or you think it is something else wrong with you. I have a mate who cycles and he was always banging on about how he beats his time around this 6-7 mile course everytime he is training, was doing it for months, then one day got half way around and could not go any further, iand i mean no further he thought he was going to die he told me, it was just simply over training. he was ok with a few weeks rest, i suspect this is what has happened to Price

Nope, not overtraining. He threw tons of bombs in the 1st and 2nd round. After he knocked down Thompson Lennox Lewis was screaming on the top of his lungs "go knock him out, now. Go after him, don't stop". Price was stupid enough to follow the advice, didn't pace himself and gassed out.

This isn't overtraining or lack of stamina, this is a lack of ring IQ and the inability to pace one-self according to ones physical parameters.

i don't even think he shot his load against thompson.

he was walked down and beat up.

    it was that simple really.

    he just ain't good enough.

    sad but true. :-(

thompson went forward and pressured him.

he just didn't have any answers.

it was nothing to do with pacing himself.

    he just had no answers.

    just ain't got it.

    harsh but true. :-(

"on the Sunday I went for a bit of a run with Neil Perkins and I was absolutely f***** and I had to turn back and go home because I was like a bag of sh**e. From then on it was like my energy levels weren’t quite the same"

the excuse about him throwing to many punches is out of the window after reading that bit.

For me it was merely excuses from David there. A fluke and being drained and hitting thin air drained him in second fight.

He won't progress on from domestic level because he doesn't have the skills or the mental make up sadly lads.

He's right Lewis could of come to him but then again Lennox is doing you the favor. I'm pretty sure Lennox claimed he had 3 weeks yet Price claims 5.

I noticed he not blaming Franny Smith which is good of him and shows loyalty but he won't progress on with Smith as his trainer IMHO.

fair enough ive probably just under estimated it, ive never been in serious competition on a couple of occasions when i was weight training and then doin a shed load of cardio for a half marathon i overtrained myself and felt like **** for days but after a few days rest i didnt feel too bad..... same sort of principle but i suppose as prices training will be seriously intense the problems with over training and levels to it would be a hell of alot worse

All the HWs are on gear and gear affects you in different ways. Maybe his PED regime came back to bite him on the arris.

theres nothing worse than overtraining, once you go over the edge you cant get it back, you are done for, its a lot better to be 90% fit than 101% if you know what I mean, from watching how price had nothing after 3 rounds my first thought was that he had over cooked himself, ive done it myself and you need about a week of doing nothing to get yourself feeling right again, might be wrong but that's what it looked like to me

I was going to make a comment about how I thought it was a mental thing, it seemed like he crumbled mentally and didn't want it anymore to me.

But I've never experienced overtraining, and you're much more experienced athlete than 99% of us on here, so perhaps you're right.

    I hope so...

Really want Price to do well, he's a good boxer. Personally I think he's better than Tyson Fury, just doesn't have the same heart/fight in him, no-one can doubt Tyson Fury's will to win...although by the look of him there's no danger of Fury overtraining

I might be miles off but its just how it looked to me, but I agree mentally he seemed to unravel but when you having nothing to give I can understand how mentally you could start to panic, biggest night of your life in a must win fight and physically you have nothing left after just 2 rounds, that's bound to make you wonder wtf is going on, the reason I think its overtraining is that with no training camp at all and 2 stone overweight a pro boxer would still have 3 rounds in him, pricey had a 10 week camp and had nothing, that's what points to overtraining imo
