Why do some peple say Canelo is too green for this fight?

It is not the lack of experience its lack of skill. He is just not good enough to beat Floyd. He stepped up to face Trout and did ok. Problem with that is Floyd is miles ahead of Trout. He has a chance to win because he is younger and bigger not because he is at floyd's level.

 

Because people are ******s.

 

Only people I see doing this are the Oscar fanboys who, for some reason, still have an unhealthy resentment for Floyd.


There is no one left on planet earth who Floyd can fight that will be better than a "prime" Oscar if you ask these guys.

 

plus canelo is already drained at 54, this is proven in the amount of weight he goes up when hydrated

and this is not a 54 fight, its another floyd catchweight fight , the man canelo has to draini himself even more !!

I've been saying Canelo was too green for this fight since he signed to fight Trout and the rumors of Alvarez-Mayweather started heating up. It's not some new revelation. I respect the ambition, but Floyd's too much, too soon.

And, of course Floyd would rather fight him now than a year or two from now. Can anyone really sit there with a straight face and imply that somehow the fight becomes easier for Floyd the longer he waits to make it?

Overall, it's still a great fight for Floyd and one of his best in years. But Alvarez still isn't the finished product. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Assuming the same growth he showed in the Trout fight, Alvarez still needed 2-3 more tough, high class contender fights to develop before I'd give him a serious chance of catching Floyd on the downside of his career. And even then it'd be an aggressive projection. The fact that the OP had to refer to legit ATG names to try and prove Canelo's not too green shows what kind of odds the poster really believes he's facing.

As I said before, props for the ambition, but he bit off more than he can chew. Like a hungry 9 year old kid at a steakhouse who swears they can put away the 32 oz porterhouse to impress everyone only to think "oh snap, what now?" when it's finally staring him in the face.

Alvarez by age 26 will be a beast but right now he is way too green for someone like Floyd

 

Here's what I don't get about that argument....an increase in skill is typically achieved by gaining experience. It's not an either/or scenario because one is correlated with the other.

Canelo's showing growth as a fighter, but his skill shortcoming against Floyd will be a direct result of a lack of experience against top fighters.

 

Oscar in no way blasted out Vargas , that fight was close and competitive . Fernando nearly knocked Oscar outside the ring at one moment . Although Vargas got stopped late , he def held his own .

 

I think this is the perfect timing for Canelo, he will be fighting another another pure boxer who is also undefeated (and smaller) in fights back to back. It is extremely difficult to prepare for Floyd regardless (some say impossible) so I believe having the recent experience fresh in his memory, and the confidence from having won against a boxer with such similarities, would serve him a lot better than fighting other names who could not near as close to preparing him for Floyd as Trout.

 

And trout arguably beat him.

 

Of course they will say that Floyd could beat GGG or Ward and the haters would have some reason why floyd had an unfair advantage.

What I mean by experience is Alvarez has 43 fights, he may be young but he is not a newbie. Yes you gain some skill from experience, but Floyd is a natural and even at 23 without 43 fights Floyd had more skill then than Alvarez has now. The type of skill and level of it that floyd has, are not learned, he has just polished those skills over the years.

 

Because hes fighting the King!
