Better Defense: Wlad or Tyson

"IF" is your operative word there. You say, "If" he was smaller, he would get Ko-ed. I counter that with an "if" he had an iron chin, then he wouldnt get Ko-ed.

This is a silly conversation because you cant take away his size or add an iron chin to who he is. This is all fantasy-speak. Wlad is who is he, and he fights according to that, and does a tremendous job.

 

In every area of life, there are written and unwritten rules. You can't just follow the written ones or you will be disadvantaged; you have to be crafty and manipulate yourself around the fine print of the game. Clinching and leaning are highly effective tricks of the trade, and you cant suddenly deem them 'not real defensive skills'. If it is effective, it is real skills; and Wlad has real skills in abundance.

 

I don't consider bear hugging and groping small guys to death a part of boxing. Its straight up fouling.

Parrying, ducking , slipping, bob n weaving , side to side latteral movement, counter punching, lighting fast head movement , is what boxing defence is all about.

To come forward ,slipping shots on the offensive, takes far greater skill than just standing there sticking out the jab in guys faces.

Any body who says Wlad is a plain dumbass.

 

If Tyson was 6'5 would he still be able to bob and weave and slip side to side to avoid punches the way he does at 5'11?

 

Wlad has a more effective defense, for a number of reasons.

Ask yourself; who would you rather be in that ring?

Wlad barely gets hit.

Ar you serious? Mike Tyson in his prime had a excellent defence, quick and precisly. His height (call it lack of) wat turned in his advantage, the way he fought. Great upperbody movement

 

Look how many clinches Wladimir initiated against Mormeck in the first round alone.

wlad has constant grabbing and fouling as a defence. and of course a ring judge that is bribed. that is not a defence, that is illegal and only works in germany.

tyson was a world known and appreciatede master of the art, wlad is just a hometown hero among russians/ cccr..

Man, Tyson had the head movement of a fighter at a much lower weight. He had some insane control for a HW.

 

Tyson had much better defense in his prime and a solid chin, problem is once Tyson fell in love with his power he abandoned all defense and just rushed into punches to land his own. If hed focused a bit more on his defence he would not have been stopped by Douglas or holyfield
