Who has had a better career Froch or Hatton?

Don't like Froch but he has the better resume by far and has never been stopped

Best Win = Hatton (Tszyu)

Number of Top Level Wins = Froch

Overall...Hatton is still ahead. Even if you ignore money/fame it's 3 to 2.

 

Simplistic view but essentially there are good points. I think Hatton in general is pretty under-rated here. Hatton was #1 at his weight and only lost to the two stand out ATG P4P fighters in his generation, both probably when in their primes. He stepped up in weight and in terms of money/fame he achieved greatness: his fights were huge events. Froch has longevity in his favour and the fact that he was never stopped but he has never really been #1 in his division and hasn't stepped up in weight either (although in fairness he never shirked any challenges at 168).

Overall I'd say Hatton but Froch is still active and going strong and may catch up further and overtake Hatton by the time he retires.

Since when did PPV buys equate to a good fighter? David Haye has had more PPV buys than Froch. Does that make him a better fighter? Does it ****.

 

Froch and he's still having it. Carl seems to command a bit more respect somehow.

Hatton might have fought a couple of names we hold in greater esteem, but Froch IS a better fighter and isn't finished yet.

What I remember from that fight, is that Hatton was promoting the opponent as being one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, and the fans weren't buying it at all. He was believed at the time to be a faded fighter.

This is a myth that I have seen various people come out with. Was Taylor giving Froch some problems with his speed? Yes, sure. Was it a one-sided fight where Froch was getting completely outboxed by Taylor? Not at all. It was a competitive fight where Froch broke him down.

 

I love Froch, but the fact remains: he has never been the number one in the world. Sorry, he hasn't. And if boxing wasn't so ****ed up, and only crowned one world champion per division, he wouldn't have won a world title.

Hatton, for all his faults, beat Tszyu and became the best 140lb fighter on the planet. That counts for more, in my opinion.

Haye also went after the best in the world and beat him abroad.

As great as he is, Froch has yet to do this.

A boxing career is about earning money and getting big fights, and having lots of fans. In that "only ooooooone" Ricky Hatton did a lot better as Carl.

As the question was who did better in his big fights it's Froch who takes it.

 

Depends. Hatton was by far the bigger draw, PPV and gate receipt wise. Will will see what happens by time Froch retires and judge from there. If he losses to Groves I sure people will be having a different conversation.
