I can't believe I'm saying this, but Verno should be #1 by virtue of his beating Spinks in his hometown of St. Louis. Forrest hasn't beaten any legit 154-pounders other than a bogus decision over an old Quartey. Baldomir and Piccirillo were both welters, with Baldomir somehow earning a title shot at 154 despite never fighting at the weight prior. Piccirillo was famous for beating Spinks in Italy at 147 and getting blasted for the same belt Forrest has today by an undeserving Margarito (He had also not fought at the weight). Like James Toney said, WBC: We Be Crooks.
What about poor Cory Spinks... I think that was the point of the thread. Placed down the list for a fight that he won.
There are a ton of fighters that would kill to have a fraction of the talent that Simms had, yet he just let it all slip away. That ******* :fire
Winky Wright needs to come back down and clear up this mess. He would beat each and every one in there, its possible that Spinks would fight a stinker and run, but Wright > 154lbs division. And, if Winky moves down, expect DLH to run away from the division
I find it absolutely ridiculous to have DLH ranked anwhere near the top 5, I seriously don't even know why he's ranked at all. Sorry, but what have you done for me latey.
If he did come back down he could spark light in the 154lbs division, there could be one champ again and he'd be the man to beat. He said he wanted to go back down there for DLH, but he knows that if he moves down, DLH will run once again. Honestly, I think Wright is going to wait for Pavlik, and if that doesnt come off, hes going to take whatever he can find or retire. 154lbs division is a mess nonetheless.
Forrest Phillips Dzindziruk Alcine Spinks If Alcine wins against Santos, he should unify against Phillips. What do you guys think?
