Great win for Smith, one of my favourite fighters. A superb punch and the way Buckland went down reminded me of Manny getting stopped by Marquez. I must say though something seemed off about Buckland, he didn't look right so the weight could well have been a problem.
Great win for Smith wouldnt say im glad for him after his 2 'gifts' against simpson but cant knock his performance tonight. As for billys joke about him moving up and fighting burs havent u got crolla to deal with 1st in a joke of a fight before u move onto another meaningless domestic mismatch???
Buckland fought as if he didn't have many rounds in him too. Weren't they saying on Boxnation that he looked awful at the weigh in? Great finish but I'm not really a fan of Smith. Yet again on Saturday he was fouling then two seconds later complaining to the referee when it was dished back. Every competitive fight he's in seems to be a grapple match too.
They did, it seemed to me like he hadn't done the weight properly but I'd be surprised if that was the case as Borg seems like the kind of trainer that wouldn't allow that to happen!
I just think stephen was a lot stronger then buckland was excpecting! i think they were just excpecting to walk through him! i thought it was going to play out like mitchell v katsidis but i was wrong! very impressive display
If you don't do the weight right your boxers chance dramatically decrease,look at Gonzalez great for 6 rounds then hit the invisible wall and found nothing, some coaches just don't know how to do weight and do it safely
That's true Billy, wouldnt Borg have picked this up though in advance of the fight and read him the riot act if he was doing the weight wrong?
The night before the fight on Boxnation there was a preview show on, Bunce done an interview with Borg in the ring and he said that Buckland wanted to move up to Light Welterweight after the John Murray defeat. That shows that he doesn't have much confidence in himself to make Super Featherweight...
