Why were we being told Cleverly had a granite chin?

I can't believe all the ignorance of this board about glass chins! Just because someone get's KO'd or TKO'd does not mean they have a glass chin. It was Kovalev's power, not Cleverly's chin! Lewis, Louis, Frazier, Foreman, Tyson, Spinks, Holmes, Ali, not to mention so many others got knocked out. Did they have glass chins? Cleverly had never been hit by Kovalev before!!!

So you want to compare cleverly to the likes of lewis, tyson and holmes? :silly

Cleverly was out of his depth from the first round. He was fazed just from one round of a beatin as when he went back to his corner you could see he was shell shocked and only a matter of time before he folded.

That is not someone with a strong chin.

No, I am just asking that if someone gets knocked out, does that mean all the world champions of the past have glass chins?! Of course they don't! Every time someone gets stopped, threads on this board are calling them bums with glass chins. Anyone can get knocked out..........

Any idea of Cleverly having a iron chin was made up by Cleverly himself. He faced local fighters who had OK punching power. He never faced an opponent who can punch until Kovalev.

Cleverly never had an iron chin. His chin was OK, but then again, very few guys can take a punch from Kovalev regardless of how good their chins are.

Kovalev throws so many great power shots in combinations that it doesn't matter if you have a great chin or not. He's a sickening puncher. If Cleverly could dig back a bit, which he couldn't the only other thing they hoped for was for Kovalev to fall apart due to chin or stamina issues. The problem with this is that Kovalev can certainly dish out a beating in those first few rounds to reduce an opponents ability to offer anything in the later rounds.

Whose chin would have withstood the bombardment in the 3rd? You need more than a solid chin to fight a guy like Kovalev.

Granite chin or not Kovalev will still smash straight through. Kovalniteev smashes anyone. Even through granite.

No one ever hyped Clev, if you don't like British fighters i couldn't give a **** but stop trying to make out that they are hyped to justify your pathetic opinion.

Power like that stops people, world class chin or not. The best fighters avoid big power by not getting hit, not taking stupid shots.
