Nathan Cleverly, Modern day Joe Calzaghe?

Are you actually for real. Calzaghe clearly beat Kessler more convincingly. There was nothing in the last Kessler vs. Froch fight, the score cards were a disgrace.

 

You will get some sh*it for this, but you are basically right. Calzaghe was good but nothing more.

Those who think Calzaghe would beat prime Jones, Hopkins or Toney are the same people who though Cleverly had a chance against Kovalev, or that Kessler was going to KO Ward. Just flag waving fanboys who don't understand what it is they see in the ring so instead base their opinions on where a fighter comes from or what the press tells then to think.

What happened to Cleverly tonight is what would have happened to Calzaghe if he decided he "didn't want tough fights" and took on Jones or Hopkins when it mattered.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded and knows nothing about boxing.

 

No comparison what so ever, the only remote similarly was they both have a high work rate.

Yes I do. Becuase Calzaghe had a good chin and excellent recovery power. Therefore a fight between Prime-Jones and Calzaghe could have gone the distance - like Jones's fight against Castro, Hopkins, Toney, McCalum, Del Valle, Telesco, Johnson and Gonzalez did.

 

calzaghe used to spar with clev and even clev will tell you he couldnt get a punch on calzaghe.

Dont be silly. Nathan has now had 7 title fights including an interim one. In Calzaghes first 7 world title fights he had beaten Eubank and Reid who had been SMW champs and were top 10 fighters, beat Sheika who was top 10 and coming off a win over prime G Johnson, beaten top 10 Starie who had taken C Woods 0.

You are aware that it was Hopkins that didnt want to face Calzaghe arent you?

 

Question mark is that he held a very inferior version of the title for so long and really only fought over the hill guys with the exception of Kessler who is good but certainly nothing in the big scheme of things.

No way was B Hop prime when Calzaghe beat him..no way regardless of what B Hop has achived since.

 

Why didnt Joe fight Tarver, Wright or Pavlik?

 

Wright was too small and Joe fought Hopkins who schooled Tarver and Pavlik. None of those guys were in his wight division anyway.
