Yeah, just watched it again and again had Geale by 7-5. Yep, close fight and I will be gracious just like Daniel and say no robbery. Geale took most of the shots, that were at times, wild and ill directed on the gloves and elbows. Aggression and Barker indeed did press the fight on occasions, has to be effective and I don't think Barker's necessarily was for alot of the bout. He clinched and held which I don't have a problem with but to say he pressed the action for a majority of the fight is wrong. At the end of the day, it was a damn good fight. Goes to show the US judges want aggression. This bout was in Germany, Australia or even the UK I see a different result, albeit again close. Calzaghe vs Reid circa 1996 for example. Reid swung wildly, connected more than Barker especially with the counter right hook, yet it was Calzaghe's more frequent and accurate punching that got the nod. In saying all that, what a lovely lad Barker is. Good on him, he fought his heart out and hopefully can make some dosh hereafter.
Split decisiion loss.............don't carry on like he got owned or something to a fighter whose only loss is to Martinez.......always was a 50/50.......always was gunna be close......he'l be back & it certainly wpn't be against some argentinian driving a 4 month taxi license.
I have just watched it, already knowing the result. I think Darren won, clearly if not widely. He threw the harder punches, he threw more punches, he was the aggressor and according to the punch stats he landed more. Geale seems like a class act, as did the lad who came to London to fight Saunders, both were a credit to Oz.
Suck **** again geale.. Now go dance to your stupid rock and roll music that you waltz out to like a tool somewhere else. I thought mundines entrances were cringeworthy. You can tell when geale walks/dances out with his tongue stuck out he thinks he has a win coming his way....only barker fixed that.
I dont get whats with some people having a sook about rubbing this loss in a little. I mean if your going for Carlton and your mates going for the Hawks and the Hawks win, does your mate not rub in that loss? a lot of hypocrite cry babys around here. Geales record was padded, fact. He really never faced anyone like Barker in all his fights and was bound to come undone. Those who said he would beat GGG and wasnt ducking him clearly must now see how deluded they had become.
Hello Gentlemen I would just like to give my condolence's to all the hardcore Geale fans. I am not going to lie I enjoyed seeing him get his ass beat after what he did to my hero which caused me great butthurt. I hope you Geale fans are experiencing the same type of butthurt and now appreciate my pain after seeing a hero dethroned. I urge you all not to make the same mistake I did and not to start a hate campaign against Barker. We should all unite now with our butthurt and hope that Barker has the balls to fight GGG and then we can all enjoy seeing him get annihilated by Gennady Golovkin. Peace.
Barker clearly won that fight. The judge that had it for Geale by 1pt was a little generous to the Aussie. Barker won by 3pts on my card.
Im a massive Geale nuthugger but if Geale was to lose to someone Im glad it was Barker. His post fight speech was class and dedicating the fight to his deceased brother was touching.
Geale has been over rated for a very long time, the biggest mistake Geale made was hooking up with Fenech and padding his record which turned into a bad habit as it was often repeated time and time again. Barker is a good boxer but lets face it, Geale was beat by a guy who had a layoff for 14 months and comeback to fight twice before facing Geale yet the Geale nut huggers wanted us all to believe that Geale had what it takes to beat a season animal in GGG. @Chillin, prob Geales bodyshot. GGG's didnt seem to hit Macklin that hard, then again id have to watch replays of both bodyshots to be 100%, the big question is, how fast would GGG have knocked out Geale. Id say very fast, id give Geale 4-5 rounds at most.
I was surprised at Geale's performance, in so far as, he gave Sturm and Mundine angles, head movement and straight punches. Against Barker, he stood stationary, went back in a straight line when Barker came forward, no head movement, was wide with his punches (especially power rights). I'm not a Geale nut hugger but he didn't fight like he had in his last 2, extremely impressive fights. If the Geale that fought Sturm showed up against GGG, it goes deeper than 4 or 5. Yesterday's Geale is a different story.
Barker isn't Mundine or Sturm. Different fighters make you do different things, you cant fight the exact same for every fighter, you make adjustments and sometimes fighters spoil you , suprize you etc. Geale just couldn't get into his zone and when he did he took his foot off because of his corners advice imo.
