just watched the fight and noticed hardly anyone is talking about him which is strange Great performance he did the UK proud, fully deserved the win big respect to him, he's been through A LOT the way he came back in the round he got knocked down in was an unbelievable show of heart, Rocky/Gatti/Benn style. it's great that the UK has a world champion at middleweight which such a strong division and he seems like a top bloke as well Bring on the Barker - Murray fight!!
yes totally agree, I thought there would have been more about it aswell, I mean there's load of repetative articles for alot less. Well done Darren was a great perfromance took the game away from Geale right from the beginning i thought he might have tired more they way he was loading every punch up from the outset but he stayed strong...fell apart a little in the last but who can blame him.
A big problem for some of the posters on here is that there is nothing negative you can say about the lad or the performance.I must admit I thought he might have been consigned to the nearly man category, which makes Sat even more brilliant.Would love to see the Barker,Macklin,Murray series which I would willingly ppv for.As I have said hope lad can hold on to belt long enough to make a shed load of money.
Wonder what the next route is for him. A return with Geale? Sturm is apparently in the picture Murray and Macklin on the domestic scene. 4 possible fights there.
Actually became a fan of Barker, i thought maybe the Martinez fight he faked it but after seeing his heart in this one i know he wouldnt do that That was a fight ending body shot then he actually started fighting back in the same round His style is simple but effective definitely fan friendly
People are more concerned with the ****s on TOWIE than a world champion boxer nowadays sadly. Mentioned it in my office earlier today and four blokes who consider themselves sports fans said they'd never heard of him. Sad indictment of British culture.
Really chuffed for him. He's the cliche good guy in the sport. He was so close to getting stopped on his feet after the knockdown but started throwing back just in time...showed serious heart after being hurt badly. I hope he gets a few paydays, although when I think objectively, I struggle to see how he will remain a titlist for more than a fight or two.
Dont think it is just about sport Solaris, over the past few years we seem to have made a virtue out of ignorance.........sad.
I totally agree it was a fantastic performance. I am very impressed with the improvements he's made since the Martinez fight.
This is so true, I hope he can get a few fights that will secure him financially which he should be ableto achieve now and good on him. The Macklin, Murray fights are big money spinners and damn good fights for us fans and keeps the title in Britiain.!
Too right well done Barker, he dug deep and got the win. :good And to do it for his late brother means even more, very moving.
