I can think of two perhaps three styles which would give him problems.

The first style is someone who could fight like Duran. He'd be putting constant pressure on Mayweather and he'd be going to the body, and if Mayweather didn't fight in the middle of the ring, he'd get mugged by Duran with the constant pressure and his one punch counters certainly wouldn't do the trick.

The closest we have today is Pac but even though he's a level lower than Duran, his style could give Mayweather all kinds of trouble, which is why so many people are pissed about them not fighting in their primes.

The second style he could have problems with would be Hearns type fighter. Tall, has better reach, and has power in spades.

And as for De lay hoya, I think in his prime, he'd be a tough fight for Floyd same goes for SSM.

I agree with you on the mental part. So many people focus on the physical and forget the mental part of the game. Mayweather has been physically outmatched in many of his fights especially recently, it's going to take an incredibly strong mental approach to beat him.

It's not just about a blue print, it's about a fighter of equal quality with the right style and attributes.

The only fighter with all of those qualities was Pacquiao, but we all know what happened. Canelo has some qualities and potential, but we all know who will be rightfully favored.

yep and according to the haters all past their prime. So Floyd should lose then right?
    and if he wins?
So pathetic, knock him for fighting guys a year or two past their prime then give him no credit for continuing to win past his own.

Sounds like "blueprint" is directly related to the most popular phase in boxing, "styles makes fights", and if that's the case, I guess we can say there's no "blueprint" of how to beat Alvarez either.

Although we've seen styles trouble both fighters, we've seen both overcome disadvantages, in Mayweather's case he's had to overcome physical advantages that many of his opponents have had over him. In Alvarez's case he's had to overcome guys with more experience.

I believe the outcome of this fight will be determined by Ring IQ, and although Alvarez has a high ring IQ, nobodies is higher than Mayweather, he just finds ways to win.

when he does lose (and if he keeps fighting he eventually will) , they wont say the better man won, but simply floyd was past his prime.
problem is, all floyds most famous faces were either past their prime or coming off recent multiple losses....hell DLH had lost 2 of 4 coming in...great feat for floyd to give him loss 3 out of last 5. JMM had jumped 2 divisions and was 37 year old former featherweight king of over 50 fights. SSM was ancient coming off 1 decent win in the last few years mixed in with mediocre wins or losses.
Gatti was way past it and in his 46th fight and 14th year and would lose his last 3 of 4. Judah was coming off a loss. chop chop was coming off a loss. Baldomir had 1 major win and it was against judah and he had been beaten 9 times already. whoopie
he will get full credit for beating canelo at age 36...but not for clowns like ortiz or "the ghost" or an even more shot cotto...nope..sorry

I don't think there is a blueprint. For as great as Floyd was in the lighter weights, his boxing IQ has increased exponentially over the years and his defense has to be considered right up there with Willie Peps (I think FLoyd is actually the greatest defensive fighter of all time.)

TO make matters worse, aside from his ATG great defense, he's way too accurate with his punches, constantly coming in around 45-50% on his accuracy in recent years against his opposition. As cliche as this may sound, the only way to really beat Floyd is by landing that lucky power shot that could knock him out. And that's next to impossible given how impeccable his defense is. That's why from 130-140, I wouldn't favor any of the ATG's against Floyd at their respective primes ( a few guys at 147 could give him hell though like SRL, SRR and Hearns... FLoyd is not a prime WW though, he's a lightweight/JWW.)
