Surely not without settling business with Senchenko? Once Brook finishes using him for a flesh-light, that is. Think about the angles on that one: Matt avenging his brother, and both have an apples to apples common opponent (both having close 12-round scraps with Senchenko's countryman Yuriy Nuzhnenko) It's very winnable for Matt, and from Slava's POV - hey, why not continue to bang on in the UK where his name will get him paid even in racking up a few losses?
Spot on, in my opinion, but these guys have obviously gone over this ground with their handlers endlessly. The daily grind of bein a fighter must just have a certain shelf life, whereby they just think "iv had enough of this ****" one day and turn their backs.
Shame, I was always a fan. He was never going to be a world champion but he was a great gatekeeper for the division. It was guaranteed for someone fighting him that he'd take them the distance.
no way does mat hatton beat senchenko! in the brook fight he was throwing one of the worst right hands ive ever seen from a boxers who's won a european title. technique was terrible
Not the worst news ever, always found Matty a bit boring. Worked his arse off though so good luck to him in the next part of his life.
Matt done really well winning euro title and fighting Camelot nobody can take that away from him. Good luck for the future.
Good move by Matt...he was never going to be World Champion and he made some decent money too, more then his talent actually deserved.
Think he's a good example of a boxer whose drive made up for lack of talent. He did win the european belt, can't be knocked. He was more or less schooled by Brook, that was it really then. Hope he enjoys retirement!
It takes a lot of courage to get into the ring. I hope he made lots of money and can have a really fine retirement. I wish him well..............
He was a good fighter, lots of heart and very brave. Didnt have a world class punch or speed, but possessed a world class chin.
Deserves a lot of respect. He was limited but durable, game and came to fight. He can look back on a career where he went from struggling in 6 rounders to taking on Saul Alvarez for a 'world' title. Won and defended the European where he collected his best win and got a draw with love more n'dou plus went the distance with kell brook and chris van heerden. He appeared several times in America on Ricky's undercards and can look back and say he silenced the doubters with his run at the end of his career.
Lets cut to the chase he wasn't up to much lets just say a decent domestic level operator if it wasn't for the Hatton name he could well have ended up a top tier level journeyman.
