Yeah. You can work the same move off his jab, but you slide your right foot straight forward, and you have to slide your head outside his jab.
But you don't "switch then punch." you do it all at once, if that makes sense.

we call that "iskorak" or on english "lunge". there is lunge to left and lunge to right like you did. you used right lunge with interception when somebody threw right hand, but we do it when opponent throws left so we go outside of his left and then continue in southpaw stance. also, when opponent throws right, we do left lunge with right hand interception and then go outside continuing in orthodox stance. very nice move, i just wanted to point theory behind it :)

btw gumbo, johnnyP is a pro, there are few videos on him here. i think he has heavy hands :)

What weight class are you fighting in? No high work rate kind of indicates to me you're not a small guy. Those little guys are like wind up toys-----crank them up, let them loose and watch all hell break loose.

My favorite weight classes are probably welter and middleweight. Those guys are still pretty slick with enough pop to take your head off.

Heavyweight just over the 19 stone mark at the moment, I prefer watching the smaller fighters though myself

I managed to get two knockdowns in sparring. The first one was a flash lefthook knockdown, but he was a lot younger than me in fairness. The second, I was sparring a guy taller than myself, I couldn't get to him, but managed to counter a jab of his and flatten him with a short left hook. I managed to figure out a flaw of his, and knew the left hook was the punch to get him. Before that I was getting jabbed to death lol.

Great feeling when you score a knock down isn't it :)

i used to hurt alot of guys in sparring, my coach used to get kind of mad at me, i actually almost knocked my coach out in sparring before haha. i upgraded to a pair of 18oz gloves that are like pillows because i dont like hurting people in training, and the guys who enjoy that are bullies

    Why not just lighten up?
An old school boxer I used to know (who's dad trained Marciano) used to say "when it comes to sparring, think hit, not kill"

i never throw with the intention of trying to kill anyone, we just spar hard in my gym and it happens. i would prefer to spar light but thats rarely an option

Well.. Only once did I actually had someone fall asleep on me. I'm a southpaw and slipped a jab to the outside while throwing a hard straight left. The guy walked into it and the punch was straight.

I've had a few guys take a knee from a livershot.

Thank god I haven't been knocked down myself.. Yet.

Ive been dropped twice in sparring, once off a bodyshot and once from a right hook i proper walked onto. I got dropped twice in my first fight 2. I got up every time and continued. So ive got a lot of experience of hitting the deck!!

Only ever dropped others in sparring to the body, not the biggest puncher ever!
