Adamek might be past his prime, but he's tough and highly experienced. Good fight! As far as Jennings is concerned - his management need to step it up! He's starting to fade on most peoples radar...
Cheering for Czar in this one. His a big (6'3), young Olympic Bronze medalist, and the division needs guys like him. Hope he can do better than he did against Scott. Adamek is a great fighter, but he has had his day.
Added a poll. Also edited thread title and opening post because as it turns out, it's going to be on regular NBC network TV, not just NBC Sports.
I like Glazkov, but the Scott fight rings some warning bells vis-a-vis Adamek. Czar looked a bit slow and flat-footed in that one, and Adamek may still just be too quick for him. It is a very good fight tho, and as an earlier poster mentioned, I don't really want to see either of them lose, but hell that's the price you pay for good fights, I guess.
Uh...good job adding a poll, but...hate to break it to you but you set the end date a smidgen too far in the future past November 16th... Three years in the future... :!: Make another thread with a corrected poll and then ask the mods to merge them. :good
But what Jenning is going to do in the meanwhile? He could get the winner in the early 2014 leaving him with only one fight in 2013. I guess he could fight Banks to fill up that gap, though it is highly unlikely. In my opinion he should have taken The Khan fight. It was a big opportunity. His people probably think it is too early to step up. He is 28.
I am a Glazkov fan. He has all around ability, and he's durable. I think he takes Adamek out, and vaults into the top ten.
...Khan? I know Jennings isn't thought of as being a one-hit KO artist but he could probably dispatch Amir within about ten seconds flat. That doesn't sound very competitive. Do you mean The Czar? :yep
Adamek looked much better than he has for a few fights against Guinn and is a significant step up for Slava. Tomasz throws alot of jabs doubling and tripling them while circling his opponent which are two things that Glazkov needs to show he can deal with better than he did versus Scott. Difference is Tomasz throws alot more combos and engages more than Malik so there should be more oppertunity for Slava to exchange and counter but he'll have to show he can cut the ring off better and also use his own quality jab which is something he underutilizes at times. I'll be rooting for Slava plus its better for the division if he wins. Seeing this winner against the Mago/Perez winner in a eliminator would be nice, Chagaev/Ortiz, maybe Arreola/Wilder/Jennings could face off, Boytsov hopefully stepping up later this year (Chisora please), Helenius returning. HW division has been much much better this year.
The Scott fight was a styles and experience type of thing. Glazkov has trouble getting fights because hes pretty good and does not a big name. Adamek is on the decline, and IMO will be taken out. This will be a good fight while it lasts, and once it ends, Glazkov will have a big name and a top ten ranking.
True. I expect Glazkov to beat the faded Adamek too - and yes, he will be poised for bigger and better things and not really need a Scott rematch. ...but it would still be the classy move (and ballsy, considering what a sticky match-up it was stylistically for him as you say).
As others have said, this is a step up for Glazkov. But I expect him to shine better in this kind of style matchup than with Scott. I would not be surprised if Adamek was the favorite though. I expect the fight to be very competitive and that Adamek's skill and aggression will be on display. This is going to be a good one. It would be good to see Glazkov fight more American style fighters though. I had him beating Scott, but his inexperience with that level of defensive fighter was clearly apparent.
