HBO apparently has turned down Adamek-Jennings. That would have been another good HW matchup.

Mago took a huge punch from McCline, did not get knocked out. McCline can punch, even now..........

    Mago has a decent chin.

But his defense is poor, and Perez can punch, as we saw in Prizefighter.

So far Perez hasn't shown a glass jaw, where as Mago is certified glass. Unless Perez has a glass jaw we don't know about he should KO Mago.

Doesn't mean much. McCline is a huge man and power is the last thing to go. Muhammed Ali was dropped by the journeyman Chuck Wepner.

Perez was a youth or junior world champ right? He's got very good fundamentals.
    Mago's a crude banger.
I pick Perez. Points, because he's not too active lately and not exactly in great shape.

Edit: How many rounds btw? :hey

this is a step in the right direction for both fighters. i like it. should be be good.

i don't know too much about Mago, but i'm clued up on Perez. from what i hear on Mago, he's crude with little to no defence, has a shaky chin, but can bang. whereas Perez has a solid set of skills on him and can punch a bit as well.

the winner will get a bit more attention seeing as it's on a big Television channel. and i think Perez is that man. but i will check out Mago to see if he stands any chance here.

What a classic fight. Bull vs matador, etc.

My money is on Perez. Mago may hot hard, but he's a total caveman. Plus he doesn't really have "1 punch" power. Close, but he's really an accumulation puncher. Perez has the skills to keep from getting caught against the ropes.

    Perez by a clear UD.

So Mike Perez is now with K-2 promotions, that's why he's on the card with GGG-Stevens.

WHAT? You mean, the fight's still on, but HBO declined to broadcast it?

    Words fail me.

Mago is as crude as they come, and he hasn't been getting any better in recent fights. He is what he is. I don't think his chin is suspect, though. Where does that come from?

    - He's aggressive as a pissed off mongoose, and hammers away with both hands. He has great power, knows how to trap his opponent against the ropes, and throws 3, 4, 5 -shot combos all night.

Still, you just KNOW that he doesn't have the skills to reach elite level. It's not going to happen.
Perez may well be the fighter to finally expose him for what he is. Perez has excellent defensive movement, so I expect Mago to punch himself out early. Perez should coast to an easy UD.
