Perhaps. The fact is there were 2 fighters willing to engage in a bloodsport(emphasis on 'blood' ) with a man who was known to be HIV positive.

I guess there will always be a jurisdiction willing to sanction & fighters desperate for a payday.

Sad. Sad because the guy is dead, yes, but moreso because this seemed preventable, at least to some extent. He did nothing to help his own cause from what I understand, to the point of denying he even had a health problem. Had he taken action and taken this seriously, he might still be here for some time to come. He decided instead to stick his head in the sand about it and deny its existence.

At least it's over for him now.

Fast-living crowd pleaser, who went about as far as his talent could take him.

Thank you, Tommy, for an honest effort every time out.

As part of the "Rocky" series, you are immortalized in boxing lore in a way few can be.

May God have granted you peace.

I agree with the above post... Morrison came to fight every time.. I never saw any dog in him at any point of his career. Most of the time I wanted to see him get knocked out but have a whole lot of respect for him in the ring... RIP Champ!!

Like you guys have said, just a very sad day. Tommy did more at his best then I had thought he could and he fought tough fighters too. Farewell Tommy.

What did he die of aids? I suspect that is what it was.

Morrison had so much going for him it is a damn shame. I can't think where the turning point was because he appeared to have the best of everything. Tommy often sounded very articulate and intelligent but I wonder if long term steroid abuse changed him. A lot of WWF wrestlers from the 1990s crashed and burned without getting AIDS, Maybe the needles gave him HIV?

So why was he trying to lie and say he didn't have aids? Pretty low, another boxer can get aids from you, cuts on both men is nothing unusual, this isn't basketball or hockey, you can have big cuts and gashes rubbing against each other for 45 minutes.

I dont know why but Tommy's story has always given me the creeps. It just seemed to get worse and worse. The denials that he was sick, the story's that he was having unprotected *** with his wife, the bizarre conspiracy theories, the obvious pec implants, the apparent loss of his teeth, and then those photos after he was arrested where he looked 75 years old. I dont know. Its very sad story but its also always struck me as a very twisted, seedy, and just down right off-putting story as well.

I used to see him at my gym back in '07 or '08. He looked great. Hadn't changed a bit from what I could see.

    Such a weird story.
