Did you watch the fight? Canelo gave Mosley the beating of a lifetime. He displayed defense, combination punching, counterpunching, and STAMINA.

It doesn't matter though, as Mosley was SHOT.

You bring up Guerrero, but forget to mention that Guerrero is slow, methodical, and a slapper.

And even he got to Floyd's body multiple times despite having EXTREMELLY limited ability, as well as the inability to hurt Floyd.

If Canelo is able to tag Floyd at LEAST as often as Guerrero, it will be a long night for Floyd because the difference between Canelo's punching power and Guerrero's is signficant.

Mayweather had Mosely shook after round 2, something Alvarez wasn't able to do for whatever reason. Boxing is strange like that. Mayweather doesn't hit harder than Alvarez, so why was Mosley not gun shy vs Canelo, but was against Mayweather?

 

Yeah...for example, how he adjusted to the styles of Forrest and Wright? :huh

 

He was also gun shy against Pacquaio.

I think had something to prove against Canelo.

He had a lot of people calling him a coward and a runner after his fight with Pacquaio.

He took a beating for his efforts. It was hard to watch.

 

I think its because Mayweather has underrated punching power. He may not have concussive one punck KO power, but those stinging counter shots hurt, and after while guys don't want to get with them anymore.

Canelo dominated SSM, not sure how one could argue he struggled with him.

 

I've said this before and I'll say it again, the only reason that fight was made, was to see if Alvarez could do what Pacquiao and Mayweather couldn't, that is stop Mosley. Nazim Richardson said this.

In my opinion I think this fight exposed him a bit as not being the " power puncher" he was somewhat billed as. I remember watching the fight and thinking, "damn he's hitting Mosley with bombs, but Mosley's not going anywhere". That's when I realized, Alvarez's power is a little overrated.

 

I'm with Rummy on this one, i think Shane was a more rounded/complete fighter at 147.
As for the common opponent triangulation, this has been proved flawed a million times.
Styles make fights, Canelo had more trouble with Mosley than Floyd did, but Garcia dropped Khan like a sack of ****, but looked shaky at times against Judah and couldn't put Zab away. Khan on the other hand, beat Zab from pillar to post and stopped him.
Only a fool would pick against Floyd, and only a fool would write Canelo off.
I'm intrigued.

 

I've noticed that recently there seems to be this belief that Canelo struggled with Mosley. Shane took a terrible beating in that fight; punchstats clearly indicate this. The difference between that fight and Shane's fights with Pbf and Pac is that Shane never stopped coming and was able to muster up some sort of offense.

This leads me to an observation I've made about Canelo. In the past (this includes the Mosley fight), I thought that Canelo had defensive liabilities, and despite being offensively gifted, lacked the ability to become a truly elite fighter. What the Trout fight taught me though was that when Canelo truly sees and respects an opponents ability, he steps up his defense. In contrast, when he feels an opponent can't hurt him and/or isn't a serious threat to take is 0, he focuses more on punishing his opponent; which subsequently leaves him more vulnerable to be hit occasionally.

A guy like Floyd, in contrast, especially in recent times, regardless of the opponent makes defense an absolute priority. So, not only is he brilliant in terms of defensive technique, his strategy and temperament are such that it makes it very difficult for opponents to look good against him; he gives you little to work with. This is also one of the main reasons why he hasn't been getting many knockouts recently.

 

Mosleys corner tried to have the fight stopped after the 10th round you can clearly hear Jay Nady inform the commission but also Nady said I am not going to stop it

 

Why wouldn't Nady stop it?

I thought it was Mosley's corner that wouldn't stop it.

You could tell by the look on Mosley's face, that he wanted out.
