    130

Freitas (Was a monster at this weight)
Casamayor (as was he and 135)
    Pacman @ 130
    JMM @ 130

    135
    SSM (@ 147 as well)
De La Hoya (and @ 147 in his prime)
    Corrales @ 135

    140
    Tsyzu
Hatton @ 140 (right after his victory over Tsyzu, would have been more competitive as Hatton was much stronger at this weight and has slowed recently)
    S. Mitchell @ 140 (pre-Tsyzu II would have been a good fight, but he was done after Tsyzu)
Judah @ 140 (More dangerous at this weight)

    147 - 154
    Trinidad (and @ 154)
    Quartey @ 147
    Forrest
Mayorga @ 147 (prime, right after he beat Forrest)
Karmazin @ 154 (right after he beat Ouma)
    Vargas @ 154 (pre-Trinidad)

You can add all those guys to the list. Most of them would have been competitive fights that really would have been 50/50 prime vs. prime at each weight. If nothing else...and remember if guys like Victoriano Sosa could be pesky and last 12 with Mayweather, than great elite fighters like the ones I mention in their prime could as well.

understand before you bet your house:

    1. Cas is taller and LONGER

    2. What does Cotto have that Floyd hasn't seen?

    3. He beat Cas twice be it close or not

    4. Cotto eats so many punches its like a diet...now he is up against the most accurate fighter right now with good stopping power.

so before you put that house up..please consider these things.

    1. Cas is taller and LONGER

    A. Who cares? Cotto is way better then him. And I'd rather someone that can hook the **** out of Floyd then someone who can beat his ass from the outside anyways. And if it does come to jabing his way in Cotto's got a pretty devistating jab anyways.

    2. What does Cotto have that Floyd hasn't seen?

    A. You are correct. Cotto brings nothing to the table that Floyd hasn't seen. And this is the only real thing that worries me. Nobody in boxing is as clever as Floyd, or works as hard in training camp. However, that doesn't change the fact that every guy who's been half a pressure fighter has given Floyd a good go. Infact you could argue that the only guys that have given floyd a good go were using the pressure fighter style against him. Add to that that Cotto is twice the fighter that any of them were and Floyd has a problem. So Floyd has seen people like cotto but never anyone as good as cotto. Also Cotto has seen guys like Floyd and handled them quite well too. So you could turn the arguement around on Floyd what does Floyd bring that Cotto hasn't seen?

    3. He beat Cas twice be it close or not

Again. The "close" part is where I get my confidence from.

    4. Cotto eats so many punches its like a diet...now he is up against the most accurate fighter right now with good stopping power.

Yes Cotto eats punches....so what. He's got the beard to take Floyds punches and Floyd won't be so accurate when he's being put under pressure. Pot shotting just isn't going to work.

    ----

So I've considered it.....And I'm still betting the house.

Fort Walton is the perfect place to retire, I was stationed at the Air Force base there. I miss the hell out of it and will make my return once I build my resume' in the civilian world :)

Great thread. Brooklyn's list needs to be stickied at the top of the general forum, although I disagree with the Cotto pick, at least right now. Floyd's inactivity is going to become an issue the longer that showdown is put off.

Pacman over Floyd at 130? Put down the pipe already.

This is a fine stab. I'd remove Cotto and Forrest at 147, but I understand the picks. At 147 I'd like to ask you about these exclusions: Holman Williams, Curtis Cokes, Mickey Walker, Jimmy McLarnin and Barney Ross. Is the problem here era or film?

Most especially - you make Mayweater a favourite over Duilio Loi?

    I agree.

I noticed that on the list on the last page, when I seen the thread title one of the first names that came to my head H2H for Floyd would be if he could handle Loi.

    I think maybe not.

No way Floyd beats the version of the man who sank Ortiz twice.

An expert bob/weave, impossible to discourage or hurt with a near bottomless work rate...he's basically a list of what you want to beat Mayweather at 147 IMO.
