Leonard-Bentez is my rule of thumb on sheer brilliance. I will also mention Benitez-Cervantes but would have loved a primer version of Kid Pambele, but it was still class. Also, the second Pintor-Davila fight for the title was breathtaking and I'll bet the two Abe Atell-Owen Moran fights weren't too shabby either.

It depends on the definition of skill by the looks of it, I awlays thought of the likes of Leonard-Benitez; Whitaker-McGirt; McCallum-Kalambay as good examples. The aforementioned Greb-Walker fight seems an odd choice here. I've read a round-by-round report of their world middlewgith title fight, by Runyon i think, and despite its obvious excitement and the surpeme toughness of the fighters, it hardly sounded like the greatest display of skill ever committed to canvas. Yes, it's now passed off as one. Strange.

Oh gosh people, this thread has been lost due to assuming that "skill" means "boxing skill"

Never did I say strictly in traditional boxing, I just said what was the best combined amount of skill in the ring between two fighters. My choices should have cleared any doubt in what exactly I meant as I did not mention the obvious pick that many have been going with in Leonard/Benitez.

That fight is indeed a great display of boxing skill. But that doesn't mean it's a great combination of skill in general such as Duran/Leonard I.

There is footage of the Attell vs Kilbane fight. I do not know if this is common knowledge or not.
It is the only surviving footage of Attell and it was only discovered a few years ago.

I agree Stevie G ! Leonard/ Hearns. I was telling a friend last night about that fight. We had a basement full of fight friends when they entered the ring. As they stood in their corners, we were all thinking,` who the hell is gonna take this ` ??? Classic boxer/puncher vs puncher .boxer. Could Leonards chin, hold up to Hitman`s TNT ? Could Hearns handle SRL`s speed and incredible rings savvy ! This one was up for grabs ...
