Hatton's performance against Mayweather looks better with every opponent Floyd beats

A few punches? I had him winning the first 5 rounds until Floyd started to find his range and pick him off as Hatton was rushing in.He was pushing the fight hard but started to smother his work a bit and was taken full advantage of.A judge had a draw to Saul Alvarez and you think because they had Floyd up by 8 against Hatton thats how the fight actually went.Pfffft you dont have a clue mate....

Watch the fight again and then comeback and tell me Alvarez or Guerrero for that matter were anywhere near as competitive.

Hatton was well behind on the score cards and got knocked out, by your reasoning Hattons performance against Pacquiao was better than Bradleys because Hatton "had a go", threw punches and gave a "vailiant effort".

By the end of that fight Hatton was embarrassed and knocked out by a fighter that stopped knocking people out in 2005.

 

Hattons footspeed going forward was quicker than floyds going back

I give Hatton credit for actually trying to win. Most of Floyd's opponents try only to survive.

We shouldn't be re-writing history though. Hatton got messed up pretty bad in every round, even though he was 'in' pretty much every round (apart from the last couple)

 

Ricky tried to force the fight , limited results but he was in there and u felt there was always the chance in the first 6 rounds, last night after two rounds the writing was on the wall , Floyd is just classes above the rest . Whatever opinion you have of Hatton , he can be proud that he gave Floyd one of his harder nights work

 

He came to win but was outclassed and knocked out badly.

I agree: Hatton definitely gave Mayweather one of his toughest contests. For the first 4-5 rounds Mayweather struggled to adjust to Hatton's intensity, which forced him outside his comfort zone. Only when Hatton began to tire and his concentration went, causing him to forget to move his head and move forward in straight lines, did Mayweather start to find him on the way in.

Hatton also had Joe Cortez to contend with, surely the worst referee in the history of the sport. He wouldn't allow Hatton to work on the inside and kept breaking them up in the clinches.

The sad thing is that Hatton isn't remembered for this fight at all. It's the Pacman fight and the devastating KO he suffered that has come to define his career.

 

Hatton came to win and to echo what he put on twitter last night, he realised he was getting beat so tried to do something about it instead of him languishing to a points defeat - which resulted in him getting stopped in the 10th, he went out on his shield.

Agree with the OP, his effort looks better and better each time Mayweather steps foot in the ring.

CJ Ross seems to give points to fighters who are doing ****all,Hatton was working for every minute of every round.I was basing my opinion on the aggression of Hatton and the fact that he was the one pushing the fight and dictating the pace,making Floyd uncomfortable.Floyd did land the cleaner punches but the workrate of Hatton for me was more impressive.

 

Hatton v Floyd was a fight. Canelo v Floyd was a stroll in the park.

Floyd has a rhythm he likes to fight in and doesn't like it when an opponent ups the pace and throws a lot of leather. Hatton manage to upset Floyd at times but in the end he was well beaten.


I wouldn't mind the scorecards because Floyd was the house fighter.

The only fighter that got anything out of the judges and ref fighting Floyd was Canelo.

You'd have to knock Floyd out to get a draw in Vegas.

 

Hattons strategy was embarrassing. Straight ahead, no head movement, body shots etc. Just run forward and clinch. Floyd then got in his head and the rest was history. HOWEVER, Hatton came in great shape, he came to fight, he was tenacious and he gave it a good go. He preferred to go out on his shield then stand off in the gutless fashion Canelo did... and Hatton didn't have the luxury of being the significantly bigger built fighter like Canelo did.

 

I would have to agree with this i think the fight was ruined by the worst ref( corrupt ref in history) blantantly was pulling it apart there was no inside fighting, so whoever is disagreeing should really rewatch the fight. Mayweather will always land on the outside like proved against Canelo, Hattons head movement was great in the first 5 rounds but alot of effort went into that, he slowed then was taking apart from a all time great.. If hatton was allowed to fight in the inside i don't think he would of got stopped!
