Absolutely not...The fight wasn't match in anyway shape or form. Canelo's is a bit over rated in my honest opinion.
If Canelo wins a significant fight over the next year or two, he may be a $$ option as a rematch. But he is never going to have a chance in hell of actually beating Mayweather. Even if he brought a baseball bat with him.
Anyone with a brain know's those scores don't show how the fight went. Canelo won 2 rounds, at the very best.
Who are more qualified to judge a boxing fight? Official trained judges or the media? you're basically siding with the media scoring over the official judges. That's insane. Anyone with a brain knows that people trained in judging boxing are better at judging boxing than people untrained in judging boxing. Since DLH, who has had a closer fight with FMJ than Canelo?
If he can take Molinas IBF Belt and beat Cotto/Lara he could set himself up for a rematch at full 154. And if you say this bout wasn't competitive enough for a rematch what does that say about bouts like Pacquiao-Barerra or Rios-Alvarado ect... which ended in KO'S
I agree but why should he have to beat someone else to earn a rematch vs FMJ? Canelo gave Floyd his toughest closest fight in years. He deserves an immediate rematch at 154 lbs, because FMJ did not win the titles at 154 lbs. 152 lbs isn't a weight class. This was just an exhibition to see if a weight drained Canelo could beat Floyd. He almost did, but now it's time for the real fight.
You didn't even watch the fight. It was one of his easier fights. Canelo only won one or two rounds max and you act like he would do any better with added two pounds.
I don't think he deserves one but have clicked 'yes' purely because I would like to see the fight again. I personally had it closer than you guys are making out but still a comfortable Floyd win. Canelo was competitive in spells, and a few of the rouns I scored even rounds when Floyd took a breather.
Ok here's where I have to respectfully disagree that fight was Not really close it was almost a replay of Martinez-Chavez jr minus the 12th round knockdown and on Sept 15th 2013 Garcia Alexander should he beat Kahn and the Marquez-Bradley winner have a better case for the next shot at Mayweather. I'm not really a fan of fighters coming off losses getting title shots even though Alvarez didn't compete like a drained fighter the cw give you room to argue a rematch at full 154. Let Alvarez bounce back with 2 solid wins and by next Sept a rematch could be decent
