I understand he has a great amateur pedigree and is technically a great boxer but i cant wrap my head around why some people line him up with better boxers like he is almost on par with them. He is cautious about throwing punches, his style and his offence is lack luster and he got dropped by Angulo who should be perfect for his style.

    Type things and submit...

He's had his chances to outclass guys he's supposed to outclass, goes tooth and nail with them, and the hype train just keeps rolling along. He's had enough opportunities to show he was a P4P fighter that he'd have done so if he was that caliber.

Lara's world class, but still talked about as being a class higher than he actually is.

No shame in been dropped by a killer puncher weighting 175 pounds fight night in a phone booth, get all the facts together, canelo is been running from him for the past 18 months and that same Angulo will had kill canelo that night in that same ring.

Mention two or three better fighters at his weight, fighters that had face better competition than him in the same amount of fights.

Him and Canelo is a toss-up. Even after Floyd, Canelo's still a lot less experienced than Lara so there's always the chance of Erislandy taking it on points. Canelo still hasn't peaked yet though, and if he does develop, he should win that fight.

He still has unfinished business with Molina in a fight where he was fortunate to get the draw.

If GGG drops down to 154 to chase a Floyd fight, he'll knock out Lara.

If Floyd were to keep his 154 title and take on Erislandy, he'd win at least 9 rounds.

Trout's a close fight, I could see that going either way.

Other than that, I'd favor Lara against the rest of the division, but not heavily. An upset wouldn't surprise me.

Like I said, he's world class. He's not P4P class. There's absolutely no shame in that.

Well, he should have a W over Paul Williams, for starters. You all must have forgotten?

Anyone who rates Abril for his "loss" to Rios can't in the same breath not rate Lara for his "loss" to Williams (who even by that point was a much greater pound for pound boxer than Rios...)

What blemishes does he really have? Draws with Molina and Martirosyan? Are those even blemishes? One just became a world champ and the other is about to in about eight weeks. Even if you scored both against him, they were undeniably close and he did well to overcome adversity in either case to keep it close (bad styles match-up with a highly motivated Carlos Molina, and the bigger stronger Vanes Martirosyan getting very roughhouse and dirty) - and even with both of those flipped to L's on his record, if you likewise compensate to give him a W over PTP it still kind of balances out.

He stopped Brewer and El Perro, dominated Boone (nearly stopping him a couple of times), and has blown out lots of guys in under three minutes - Hearns in only ninety seconds.

Against whom exactly is he struggling to any great extent, perpetrating such gaucherie that people are hesitant to rate him among the best in a fairly shallow division? (in which he pretty clearly is among the best h2h as demonstrated numerous times) :huh

I think it's all a matter of perspective- if you want to sell me that Lara's a top 154 pounder, I agree. No reason not to have him in the mix with the top guys there.

It's the people that predict blowouts for him every time out and give him P4P level hype that are overrating him. I've seen people saying he takes out Floyd and GGG, and he's simply not that level (which is no slam to say about any fighter). It is a shallow division, and the guys he's fighting close fights with were supposed to be showcase fights for him, not an ugly draw (though I did have him pulling away from Vanes at the end) and a tooth and nail war with Angulo.

he was suppose to have no problem with molina or vanes. if you read the threads before the vanes fight, vanes was suppose to be no problem for lara. if you would have said perro was gonna floor lara twice, everyone would have laughed at you. the lara supporters are some delusional fans thats for sure.

He's a good boxer, he's taking the tough fights that canelo or floyd won't touch. Frankly his only bad is fighting guys who are too good. Lara is a good mover, canelo don't want none of him and neither did trout
