I said before this fight that the Trout fight was a great win but it was the worst thing to happen to him before a Floyd fight. He fought Trout almost like he was Sweet Pea and he had success. So much so that I knew he would try to do that with Floyd and that would play right into Floyd's hands

You have started lying to yourself now. That's bad, maybe you should take a break and get off this forum, but whatever you do ( don't watch the fight again ) The heartbreak might be too much for you and cause you to do some bodily harm to yourself. What!:smoke

Not not my opinion. Those are facts.

Canelo landed more punches than Cotto did vs FMJ. FACT.
Canelo landed at a higher percentage than Cotto did vs FMJ. FACT.
Canelo won more rounds than Cotto did vs FMJ. FACT.

The first two can be verfied by Compubox. Canelo won a total of 13 rounds on the judges cards. (3, 4, and 6 rounds) Cotto only won a total of 8 rounds on the judges cards (3, 3, and 2 rounds)

Mayweather also threw a lot less punches vs Canelo. Mayweather threw 687 vs Cotto and 505 vs Canelo. That's a significant number and shows that Mayweather had to be more economical with his punches vs Canelo.

You're funny, why don't you watch the fight again? I'm not "heartbroken". I don't know why you think I am such a huge Canelo fan. I'm really not. I just like a good scrap. This is boxing at the highest level. It's entertainment.

Canelo tried hard, he just didn't have enough speed and stamina to get to Floyd

You forgot to mention that, unlike Cotto, Canelo wasnt hurt and almost KTFO in the last round

You can manipulate stats to suit your agenda. Floyd absolutely pissed that fight. In my opinion of course. And probably 95% of boxers and experts too.

His ideal fight weight is 154, because that's the division he's fighting in. His walking around weight is above 154, so he has to train to make the weight. For Trout he weighed 153.5 at the weigh in. He had 1/2 lb to spare. He's still growing too. He had to drain to make 152, he had 0 lbs to spare because it took a lot out of him as he had to go on a diet to make the catchweight.

????? How am I manipulating stats to suit my agenda??????

This is coming from the official compubox stats, and judges scoring. I am not manipulating any DATA. These are statistics and scores from the fight.

Note: I don't think compubox punches landed is always accurate. I think many times it is inaccurate, but those are what the official compubox numbers are. I'm not manipulating any data from them.

Obviously punches thrown are much more accurate than punches landed.

The FACTS (Compubox and judges scoring) say that the Canelo fight was much closer than Cotto. I did watch the Cotto fight, and while I disagree, that is merely opinion. If you think Cotto was closer that's your opinion, but I think you're in the minority on that. The judges scoring is usually a good indicator of which fights are closer.

Mayweather did not have to be more economical with his punches. He was allowed to be more economical because Canelo did not throw enough punches. If Mayweather is dominating why would he throw more punches. He is defense minded he will sit back and go at a very slow pace if he is winning. In this case he was clearly winning and had no need to pick up the pace.

What do the punch stats look like if Canelo picks up the pace? Cotto was trying to win the fight so he had more in volume.

Forget the judges. One incompetent judge gave Canelo 6 rounds. She was so incompetent that she is leaving boxing.

Canelo looked to me like a guy who'd ran out of ideas at the end, he's a come forward old fashioned puncher and that wasn't ever going to be enough. He will improve no doubt but I doubt he'll ever reach the level of Floyd.
