Was Haye Wearing A Head Guard?

It's in a really odd place, even without a head guard.

 

Isn't it pretty much EXACTLY where Ward got cut before the initial date for the S6 Final..? He was wearing a head guard at the time, and no one said anything about him doing it deliberately, or questioning his sparring so close to the fight...

When Ward was cut it was a good few weeks before the fight.

 

What's more Ward stated it came form the 'inside' of the headguard which is laughable. That still remains Ward's only fight outside of California in over 6 yrs, other than a couple of fights in the Caribbean. Ward needed to get that fight delayed and it was indeed considerably delayed by a few months by that 'accidental' cut from the 'inside' of his headguard The fight was pushed back until the last Saturday before christmas

 

So it was...I remember now you mention it, I think I mis-remembered how close to the fight it was because they made such a deal out of missing the scheduled date. It was in exactly the same place though, same eye too iirc.

 

I thought he said it was an elbow or headbutt or something? Yeah, I thought it was a bit fishy how long it was put off for, but given the result it seems strange he wanted it delayed really, and as much as I dislike Ward, you have to question - as with Haye - if there ever was anything to be gained from missing the date, or trying to 'duck' a fight. Probably just one of those things that can happen, and the Ward example was more just to point out that it could be genuine!

Haye's is genuine. Sky Box Office is the be all and end all for Haye and Booth and they wouldn't want to **** Sky off given their history together.

Ward's wasn't genuine. There was no punch or elbow involved:

Ward wasn't trying to duck the fight, but there's a reason he always fights in California. This was his only proper fight outside 'home' in 6-7 yrs. That's why he needed it delayed.

 

It's conceivable that with a week to go Haye was sparring with no headguard to get used to the feeling of fighting without one.

What seems staggering is that he would be doing anything like hard sparring so close to fight night, given the risks involved and given it was such a huge fight financially and as an event.

I think there needs to be a clause in a fighter's contract, wherein the other fighter is compensated for his training expenses if his opponent pulls out through injury. Both fighters could put up some sort of bond in this regard.

This will do Haye and Booth's reputations no good at all. Thousands of fans are out of pocket.

With Haye and Booth you do get the sense that they couldn't give a **** about the fans.

 

Bull****. Haye regularly organizes fan days where he dedicates the entire day to signing autographs and meeting up with his fans. Adam Booth dictated the increased sparring volume for this fight and he was doing it to make sure Haye would be the best he could be on the night. Booth presumably pushed it too far though and now we have this disaster.
