I've been training for a month. Yesterday was my FIRST sparring.

Man, it was exciting ! :bbb

    Little info about me:
I first got into boxing for the DeLahoya Mayweather fight....since then my passion for boxing has been growing. In high school, I went to train at the PAL for about a month. no big deal. I retained a lot of what I learned and always kept teaching myself.

I got back into training at a local gym a month ago. Yesterday was my first sparring session.

The guy I was up against definitely had a lot more training than me, but he looked to be a little younger as well.
    Think it went pretty good.

I kept on the balls of my feet. Trying to time shots. I was very successful with the jab, and even mixed in a couple rights in there. I was moving my head, staying balanced for the most part.
I heard someone yell out Marquez ! Marquez ! in the gym. Im guessing because of my fighting style.

Things I need to work on:
Keeping my god damn chin down.
Not pulling my head back when my opponent is attacking.
    Stamina
Footwork and technique (At times I would get off balanced in the exchanges)
    Slipping punches

I left the gym with a big smile on my face. :bbb

They've actually been hesitant about filming in the gym :? but I'm gonna ask if I can film the next one.

    Why?

Tell them it's for you and them to watch so you can see what you're doing wrong. I can't see how that could argue that.

It's a great feeling walking out of the gym after a decent sparring session.

Get your feet under you, learn to throw punches properly. That will fix everything you need to work on, other than stamina. And it will help with that.

That is actually something I tell myself... and the people I spar with. "Hey man, I'm not trying to win, I'm trying to get better."

At my gym one of the coaches films our sparring sessions with a digital camera and then makes a copy for us each. He has the dvd ready by the time we leave.

They make us go home and watch it .

Not a big deal whats important was your experience in the rung:bbb
