My dad and I were talking about when we went to Vegas when I was really young and he said a former boxer used to run security there. He said it was a pretty big name, perhaps a guy who fought Ali, definitely a heavyweight.

This would have been about the year 2000, give or take.

Thank you for your help! I google it a ton and couldn't find anything.

We aren't sure Williams is the answer. It seems he did his security work in NYC.

Thank you, this could very well be the answer. Like to see it kept open in case someone else has another name.

Ron Lyle. He worked either there or at the Frontier. But I'm pretty sure he is the guy.

That's the one my pops was thinking of. He thanks you!

This thread can be closed, unless we want to turn it into a discussion of what fighters do after retiring...or something, lol.

    Thanks again!

I think that's called Big 6, interesting. Of course Joe Louis was a greeter at MGM, I recall. His statue is still in there, got a pic with it a few years back.

Pretty sure that was where I met Earnie Shavers who was working either as a greeter or security.

I know that Lyle worked security in Vegas early-to-mid 1990s.

Julius Francis who fought Mike Tyson & lost via 2nd-round TKO knocked somebody out while working as a bouncer in 2022!
