James DeGale is undoubtedly a great fighter and I believe a future world champion. However his decisions outside the ring make no sense. Why did he opt to go with Sweaty Mick Hennessey as opposed to Eddie Hearn? James DeGale is demanding titles shots against Groves/Froch with no real right other than the Olympic Gold medal. As we have learned from Harrison this is not worthy enough on its own right. Point being DeGale needs to jump in Eddie's fast car to a world title shot... Thoughts?

Groves vs Degale will happen after Groves loses to Froch IMO.

I don't think he is smart full stop. Woodhall was spot on about his boxing and his reaction was ridiculous.

    A genuinely detestable bloke.

    That fight won't happen next.

Even if Groves loses to Froch, it's not a big dent in his career. He'll have lost to (in many people's opinion) a top 10 P4P fighter, he can very easily come again.

Groves loves the fact, and rightly so, that he has 2 wins over Degale both amateur and pro - he doesn't owe Degale anything.

If they do get it on again, a world title should be on the line.

How do you know Hearn would want him? He has never sounded overly impressed by DeGale.

    I agree.
I think if Degale gets to a world title first then he will do a few defences and then have a big match up with Groves.
Unsure if Degale is world title quality - may give Bika a good fight, but I like many others see so many flaws in Degale, in many areas too.

He's a well known name, due to the Olympics and his TV deal on 5. Even if he is a *****, he sells so most likely Hearn would be up for it.

Personally think he missed a trick not looking further into Golden Boy when they supposedly showed an interest off the back of the Olympics.

Ogogo has gone down that route and I think he'll do very well out of it.

Degale f*cked himself over acting the prat when he first turned pro. He's toned it down a little now, but he can't pull it off like say Naz for example could. He just came across as a buffoon.

That said, 2014 could be a big year for him if everything falls into place.

I agree regarding a loss to Froch is hardly the most damaging to Groves, I see Groves getting KO'd ( not anti Groves just how I see it going ) then Groves taking a good break from boxing and returning mid - end 2014 with a tune up fight so realistically a Degale vs Groves fight might not happen till the start of 2015 but that's how I see it going although this will depend on what Degale has done in this time.

2014 is make or break for DeGale to those that think he is a draw at the box office he isn't didn't cash in on his gold medal other than a decent signing on fee missed the boat to be more mainstream.

Suspect personality that doesn't take kindly to constructive advice good boxer no doubt but his marketability ticket has long gone.

He's just not very smart full stop. Can't take constructive advice, hasn't really improved as a professional. It's a shame he has a lot of potential, maybe our closest thing to a Ward or Dirrell.

Doesn't help that his trainer is also his biggest fan. Got the same sort of relationship as the Cleverly's.
