Lets make the rules interesting. Golden era referee(leeway on fouling/clinching) and glove size...Modern era 12 rounder, scored by the 10 point must system In light of the recent Dempsey vs Wlad thread. Wlad's conquerors vs Dempsey's conquerors Fat Willie Meehan vs Lamon Brewster Fireman Jim Flynn vs Corrie Sanders Jack Downey vs Ross Purity
Honestly, I think Jess Williard would beat Wlad. Jess Williard is a LOT like Vitali, and had enough punching power to kill a man. I imagine is power is comparable to Vitali's. He didn't have stamina problems, he had more than 3 punches, and he had a hell of a chin. Not to mention the fact that he was a counterpuncher and many of the defensive moves the Klitschko's use today were utilized by Williard. For instance, the use of the arms to block punches by rolling the shoulders up high. He did that against Jack Johnson who threw, short, compact, blistering combinations. So, not only do you have a tough opponent for a lot Klitschko's opponents, you also have a guy on Dempsey's record that would beat Wlad.
Look at the way Jess Williard stands and moves. Look at 2:20 on this film. He's throwing combination, countering his opponent, and using his size. Looks better than Wlad against Povetkin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dB13_HZD83Y
Actually, I would say Williard is like a combination of the brothers. He doesn't quite have the same mobility as Vitali who I rate higher, but he throws more combinations than Wlad. If I were to rank them, it would be Vitali, Williard, Wladimir. Wladimir is just too afraid to get hit. A guy like Dempsey would destroy him.
