Bernard Hopkins came up with a new monicker and it is the corniest ever in the history of boxing..
He is now called "The Alien".. Dude is 48 and has a brain of a 5th grader.

    Do you guys agree??

...despite Richard "The Alien" Grant having been a 90's contemporary? :huh

Weird on so many levels. He was the Executioner for so long, why even bother rebranding now? ...and why recycle the nickname of a well-known journeyman who fought in your current division in the previous decade or two?

The name fit Grant because he was sort of an odd duck that nobody could really get a bead on...with a strange appearance going along with very inconsistent form in the ring.

It doesn't fit Hopkins whatsoever. He is no alien to boxing fans; after giving hundreds of mostly long-winded interviews we know more of what makes him tick and why than we do of most. Very little mystery left to him in terms of personality, and inside the ring he is the image of consistency over the last 20 years.

    :?

He feels as though hes from another planet than all these rookies, at 48 hes still a belt holder, i think bernard is overrated but he is a alien when it comes to longevity

That is pretty damn bad. I've been wishing for a long time the Bryant Jennings would get rid of the "By By" ****. **** is weak.

Have to go with Goofi Whitaker.

He was goofy, but they changed him from Mount Whitaker and then brought in a bunch of kids every fight ... kids who probably had never met him, much less heard of him ... to walk to the ring with him.

    Boy that worked.

As I recall, that was when Rock Newman took over for him (and probably orchestrated if not organized the moniker switch), but I think that was against Oleg, who was coming off the Kirk Johnson fiasco, so it seemingly worked that night.

None the less, great shout. Terrible nickname.

Angel Garcia actually gave Bernard the name Alien. Just look back at some of the press conferences for Danny fights where Bernard is in attendance. Angel would usually refer to Hopkins and then say "he's an alien".
