    was a great fighter,
there is a book called fighting chance if any one can get a hold of it , its a great read gives a real insight into how hard it was for him growing up the highs and lows

Obviously but you'd think Gomez would have known better being the experienced veteran, instead he acted like an arrogant thug and got a hiding for his troubles.

They mentioned a documentary plus a book. Anyone know when they will be out? That would be a good read!!

Gomez didnt act like an arrogant thug, no more than in any of his fights - just the usual intimidating tacics and stuff said to sell a fight. At time he was a far bigger name than ricky burns, and at the end of his career he was well beaten convinvincgly but not a hiding. And in his prime, at his best he would of knocked ricky burns out, but this thread isnt bout that. Yes he isnt at his best these days but he got lot of fans and good memories so dont know what you trying to prove?

Documetary was actually going to be a film, but they couldnt secure enouh sponsorship to finish the film having made a traliler.
He was interviewed at length for a book but this was suposed to ride on the back of hte film so doubtful whether either will happen whcih is a shame as it could be a great read.

To me he sounded like he was on some strong meds which slowed his speech due to his depression rather then soundin punch drunk

Was a tough watch but I loved Gomez growin up... Him Jaime Moore,,Brodie ,,farnell ,,Hatton etc was great at that time... Manchester boxing scene was buzzing back then

As a scouser a few of my mates were on holiday I'm the dorm as kids and Gomez was there . They all had a good buzz together and all speak highly and respectful of him . Didn't he give khan a decent fight or have I taken too many drugs ? Around 2008 ?

Yeah mate. It's a crime how many boxers get euthanised after they're no good to anyone anymore. And the way they get forced to fight. The way they get left rotting in a field after making hundreds of thousands for bookies, or shot in the head by some sub-human.

Better fighters than Gomez have tried knocking Burns out and failed. Prime for prime it would be a lot closer but no way does Gomez knock Burns out.

Gomez was a very good domstic/euro level fighter. Guy's on here saying he was great are ******ed.

I wish him well, loved watching him scrap.

It is never good listening to an ex boxer like Gomez in the way he was the other night.

Its great he has found peace in his life now but unfortunately and what is very sad indeed is the past has caught up with him.

I wish him all the very best.
