Obviously 10x better is an exaggeration, however he's definitely clearly the better, more talented fighter for sure. Also definitely higher from a pound for pound perspective. Hatton probably achieved all he couldve however and had a really solid career indeed, whereas Naz you felt was capable of doing more. Naz was so good at his best, so unorthodox, his record has plenty of depth, a quality featherweight division, although Naz definitely had a big issue with complacency believing in his own hype too much. Often coasting on his talent and neglecting fitness training. However, against Barrera, he just came up against a better fighter, perhaps the only one (bar Morales?) who possessed the required ability, style and level of work rate to beat him and made Naz look more ordinary than he clearly was in the process (he was leagues better than Khan whichever way you slice it). Naz has to rate higher than Hatton, I think if i was did a post war best of British list Naz would be borderline top 5 and Hatton may be bottom end of the top ten, perhaps even marginally outside. This is coming from someone who absolutely couldn't stand Naz, whereas I liked Ricky.
Look how well it did for the multi-millionaire unified cruiserweight world champion and ex-WBA heavyweight world champion? I suppose you are right, Haye has done a lot worse than all the other British heavweight world champ...ahhh... actually, hang on a second....
Naz's record is shockingly underestimated these days. If you followed his career at teh time, you know how good the guys he beat were. as for the Barrera fight, he was all wrong that night and had been on a downward spiral for a while. It wasn't the beating it sometimes is claimed, but he looked nervous for the first time (didn't somersault into the ring, from memory, which was unusual). I still think the earlier Naz, the one who started winning world titles, was one of the most exceptional fighters of the past 20 years - shame he messed about too much with trainers and fame to never quite prove it.
If you are picking ex or future champs Naz is ahead. It pains me to say that as I hate that little **** Naz. Still he quit after one defeat which says a lot about him. Hatton came back for more of the best.
Naz had a lot of talent. So had Hatton, despite what some would have us believe.Didnt get where he got without it.Somebody compared Naz vs Barrera with Hatton vs Pac.Why not compare it with Hattons showing against Mayweather, for me probably the best boxer ever.He went in that one to win, probably the reason he got stopped.Naz boxed like he knew he'd lose, and I won money on it.Absolutely whitewashed IMO. Naz avoided a few men.As far as I know Hatton didn't.Would have fought Cotto with a title on the line.My answer to the question is Naz,but not by much. One thing I do know.Naz wouldn't get the reception Hatton got last night in Belfast, even in Sheffield.
