logged on at 5pm but I think the Ward fight must have been a bit earlier. The Algerian lad looking strong. Incodentally there were some dodgy decisions today. Real inconsistency in the judging still. Saw a guy throw way more punches than his opponent in light heavy and every single punch missed. The other guy lands clean hard punches but is more economic and ends up losing a ud.

of claiming at least a bronze medal at the AIBA World Elite Men’s Championships following an emphatic victory in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Monday.
The Belfast stylist, who has moved up from flyweight to bantamweight for these championships in Central Asia, recorded a shut out unanimous decision (30-27,30-27,30-27) victory over Mexico’s Brian Gonzalez.
Conlan, the No.2 seed, will now meet Russia’s No.10 seed Vladimir Nikitin in the last-eighton Wednesday.
If Conlan wins that clash, Ireland will have claimed three successive World Championships bronze medals (at least) in the bantamweight class over the last four years (John Joe Nevin, who beat Nikitin en route to gold at the 2013 European Championships, won double bronze at the 2011 and 2009 World Championships).
Jason Quigley completed a good morning for Irish boxing after scoring a unanimous 30-27,30-27,29-28 decision over Scotland’s Aston Brown in the middleweight class.
The Donegal man, the No. 5 seed in Almaty, will now meet Hungary’s No. 4 seed Zoltan Harsca in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Tommy McCarthy completed a hat-trick of victories for Team Ireland with a unanimous decision over Germany’s No. 7 seed Emir Ahmatovic.
It was tight and it was tough, but the Belfast heavyweight carried two of the three judges with him through every round en route to a 29-28,29-28,29-28 decision.
No.2 seed, Yamil Peralta of Argentina, awaits the Oliver Plunkett BC ace in the last-eighton Wednesday.
Paddy Barnes, Sean McComb and Joe Ward will be in action Tuesday in Almaty.

Is there any way to actually watch the fights, RTE don't seem to be showing them even on the player, Gwan Ward always said that boy was robbed of any Olympic medal and i honestly think he will win gold in Rio

 

sometime it streams on the AIBA site, most times i cant get it. BBC will have it on the red button from(I think) the quarters.
