Looks like Shane is flying home. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/boxing-mma/sugar-shane-mosley-could-walk-away-from-fight-with-anthony-mundine-unless-cash-is-paid-up-front/story-fni2fnkz-1226744083285
the only way that shane could sue them is if went through with the fight and they did not pay him. he has an obligation for perfomance and if he doesnt fight he has no damages nor a case i dont know why mosley went through a whole camp without verifying his money had not cleared escrow. the money shouldve been in escrow the moment the contract was signed all i can think of is that he is this desperate for money to take these kinds of risks in hoping that hes going to eventullay going to get paid which he probably wont
Is the whole card off, then? No boxing on ESPN3 on Wednesday morning? Carr vs. Awad & Bennett vs. Jaca are nothing special outside the domestic/regional scene, but they still would've a decent pair of co-features for a bonus midweek boxing card. Maybe not to get up super early for, but this was scheduled for 8am EST on ESPN3 which is more than reasonable. (especially considering it's when I ought to be getting into work anyway :yep)
Apparently he wanted a million up front and didn't have it cash in hand as of today so he is picking up his ball and going home. Why is this all only developing within 48 hours of the event itself?? Shouldn't his advance guaranteed money have long since been put in escrow? :huh
At the end, they offered him $500,000 because they didn't sell enough tickets and there wasn't enough media interest to justify $1,000,000. Shane said "no".
...but how did negotiations get so muddled? It's well-known he likes guaranteed cuts ahead of time. If his minimum was a million regardless of how well it sold, were they somehow unaware of this before today?
What I want to know is why Sergio "The Latin Snake" Mora was traveling with Shane Mosley? :huh He tweeted a picture of them hanging out in the airport half an hour ago: This content is protected So was Mora helping Mosley prep for Mundine as his sparring partner? Were they not somewhat bitter rivals at one point? Didn't both feel they got screwed when they drew? Did they form some kind of bond of friendship through having engaged in maybe the worst boxing match of the last decade? Kind of a reverse Gatti Ward effect? :blood
