Should there be tougher rules on moving promoters?

Can you point to any decisions where UK boxers have been forced to stay with a promoter, or stopped from working?

 

If you have a contract and it expires, you are free to do as you wish.

Don't see what the issue is.

 

People walking away when they are still under contract? Promoters perhaps inciting fighters to break their contract?

If a fighter does that, you take him to caught and sue.

For all Frank's bull****, how many of the fighters he is supposedly taking to court end up losing?

 

As I said before, I'm not sure that can stop someone moving promoter. I suspect you can only get compensation.

 

If you have a contract you stick by it or but yourself out! Simples!

I guess the main thing is getting the contract right in the first place! Which will include get out clauses etc.

 

McGuigan had one hell of a battle to get out of his contract with Eastwood, it stalled his career for a period. Terrible Tim also had a lot of trouble getting fights as struggled against DKP.

Thankfully EU rulings have made it a little bit easier for boxers, but not a lot, many are still 'used and abused'.

 

So if the above is true his manager is still his manager' contrary to what Jamie says' so his manager has not done his job and got Jamie stripped for not arranging a defence in a set time limit , surely he knew this ?
