Briggs had strong starts against Wilson and Lewis, and quickly burned out, he claimed asthma and that was probably a factor in addition to all the bulk he was carrying even than. Briggs was in good shape for the McCline fight and didn't gas, but he still got dominated and lost almost every round after a quick start.

??? Vitali took the fight on less than 2 weeks notice, and became a better boxer post Lewis. Lewis did not take the re-match for a reason.

 

Lewis was also 38 years old. Vitali was obviously in shape. Lewis was just as obviously not. Focused Lewis gets Vitali out of there on his back.

 

Reason being he just cut up Vitali in a TKO win. Why give the bum I mean Vitali a huge payday and rematch whe he got annihilated. Lewis was old and
deserved to retire.
