Would Wilder run out of gas against a Thompson type fighter?

No idea what his stamina is like but, he has an awful jaw and telegraphs his punches.

Thompson is a very shrewd and wily boxer. He'd be able to avoid getting caught by Wilder's obvious right hand and just pick him off. One hard punch from Thompson and Wilder will be down.

A jab from Firtha staggered him. Imagine what some of the shots Thompson was landing on Price would do.

Get Thompson in the ring with Wilder, then we can gauge just how good he is.

 

Not sure because looked when he fought Kelvin Price he hardly threw any punches until he hurt him

I think Wilder doesnt mind being patient, Thompson is a risky fight though

Dont think Thompson has the power to finish him but he could keep knocking Wilder down

 

His footwork is poor, chin is bad, telegraphs his punches at times and his defense isn't the best. He has got great power and his jab is getting better but I don't see him being a world champ.

 

this Wilder is the biggest hype job in boxing. he will be stoped as soon as he steps up against someone relatively good.

 

My dissapointment with Wilder is after 30 fights you would have exxpected a fringe world level fighter on his resume!! Unfortunately it seems the demolitions of Laykcovich & Harrison are the best names.

Wilder is not bothered what fighter he goes in with, I think in his case the problem of quality of opposition comes down to his promoters protecting their investment rather than giving Wilder a decent test.

Wilder has sparred quality fighters like Haye and I believe one of the Klitschkos.

If reports are to be believed then Golden Boy, Wilders promoters are attempting to get him a fight with Stiverne, which personally I doubt will happen. I hope there is a possibility Stiverne will fight the winner of Haye/Fury for the vacant WBC title, naturally if Klitschko vacates.

The key to the above is whether Klitschko shows a set of balls and makes a decision to have one more fight or retire.

One last thing, for a previous poster to call Wilder chinny, is a bit premature.

 

Someone like Kevin Johnson would be a decent measuring stick for Wilder (dull fight mind). Thompson is more of a risk with his almost languid style.

 

I think Wilder could be a good fight for Price, I think price is better than Thompson but he just made a big mistake in the 1st fight if he was patient then he wouldn't of walked onto that big shot by Thompson witch perforated his ear drum, in the 2nd fight he should of learned his lesson from the 1st fight and picked his shots instead of gassing. I think price would knock wilder out easily in the first 4 rounds. price can take shots in the face it was just a hook under the ear that knocked him out. Price has real power he knocked Harrison out cold whereas wilder only won because of bad refereeing, Harrison was ready to continue and he didn't get knocked down properly, wilder was hitting him on the back of the head and hitting with his forearms. wilder is crap.

 

It's not "premature" at all - in fact, there's plenty of evidence Wilder's hiding glass in his chin, and that his handlers know it.

This is why nearly FIVE years into his career, he has YET to face someone who isn't a low-level tomato can or some washed up never-was like Harrison or Lyakhohich.

The bottom line on Wilder is that his chin is PURE Grade AAA china, and there is plenty of evidence for it.

Make NO mistake about it. Wilder has a china chin, and his handlers know it. Why do you think he's 30 fights into his fraudulent "career" and still facing these sorts of stiffs??

Wilder does seem to have patience, so he may be able to pace himself throughout a fight. On the other hand he has so many flaws in his game, would be amazed if he could beat someone like Thompson, who would be pretty hard to hit with those telegraphed punches.

 

He looked extremely fit to me, power makes it hard on the opponent, you cant relax, deontay is very fast and very very dangerous for any heavyweight fighter to take on.

 

I don't think he'd be trying to climb out of the ring against Thompson the way Price was.
