theres no reason why GGG hasnt gone to 168

There's still a chance he might get a shot at Sergio. That's pretty much all he needs to do is defeat him then move up.

 

He hides under his bed the minute someone mentions him going to 168.

 

He's not a big middleweight and walks around at 168. Ward probably beats him.

 

He's a relatively-small Middleweight and he wants to be recognised as the number-one fighter in that division. He should try and get a couple of big fights and hope to get the crack at Sergio next year.

 

His power would be lessened against Ward or Froch

 

Excuses for what? He walks around at that weight. Ward walks around at 180.

 

And he can wait for MArtinez or MAyweather or Cotto or Canelo. In other words the biggest stars in the sport if he sits at 160.

 

He likes fighting light middle weights at 160

 

Like he's really cleaned out the middleweight division.

 

If he cant land an A-class opponent for early 2014 at 160 he needs to move to 168 and fight Froch, no question. HBO wants it, the fight is there... if he fights another MW can in 2014 and passes on Froch im gonna call hype-job.

Different story if he passes on Froch but lands a legit top-5 MW opponent for early 2014, but from the business angle I dont see it realistically happening. Not sure about Barker story atm, but Martinez/KC unavailable and Murray going to continue having visa problems until GGG is safely ensconced in a different weight division.

 

HBO want Froch fight but he needs to fight a Murray before he even thinks about venturing up to 168 lbs. Ishida, Rosado and Macklin somehow has made GGG a P4P great. He i a quality, exciting fighter but come on people.....

 

But Murray has "visa problems" and the Froch fight is actually there. So what ya gonna do? Thing is, GGG doesnt even need to beat Froch to elevate his career.. he just needs to make it competitive and entertaining. As long as he can do that much, HBO will reward him with more big fights, cash cow opponents will see him as more beatable, and noone with a brain would think badly of him for losing to a legit P4Per like Froch at a higher weight anyhow.

I agree about the P4P rating though... HBO ventured off into silly silly land with that one.
