guys, we have a real contender. he has great ability, size, power, speed and great amateur background. after seeing him yesterday i would say he is top 5. now we have really great contenders: haye povetkin pulev perez abdusalamov fury these is a pretty good crop of heavyweights. and we have a champ who already beat the two strongest of them.
I always thought Perez would win. Abdusalamov was pretty much tailored made for him. I'm surprised he was willing to take so many big punches. Mike's better than that, and he could have played it safer in my opinion. But it just confirms he has a very good chin.
I like what I saw but Id like to see him get into better shape. I think he could lose a few lbs, might make him a bit quicker and help his stamina. But ya, a nice contender... both of them actually.
Ya great fight but someone had to lose their 0! Delighted Mike came through what was a really good test-especially his chin....might get a crack at someone in the top 10 next year but going on his record it might be a while before we see him again.
Size? Excuse me, did you say "size"? Related to Mike Perez? Related to the 6'0 Perez? Maybe you meant "cruiserweight size", i hope... Unfortunately, Size is the only ting Perez is lacking, he's really a little too short to be a heavywweight, even if he's good to compensate it with his skills.
A typically modern day heavyweight fight. Two ponderously slow out of shape plodders. It was shocking.
The important thing for Perez is to stay active. He might be able to get in the WBC hunt if/when Vitali retires. Stiverne-Arreola II and Perez-Wilder with the winners facing off for the title sounds good to me.
