I keep hearing Froch vs Golovkin as if he's not facing possibly his toughest fight since Ward against a young hungry lion who's getting better every fight and Knocking out top contenders. I got Groves beating Froch by late tko in a war and becoming a instant star. Groves vs Golovkin would be a hell of a fight and my money would be on Groves by KO.
Groves has the size advantage, but that's all he's got and I don't see it being enough. Admittedly, I haven't watched Groves since his win vs. DeGale, but he showed nothing in that fight (probably his biggest win) that was special. Now, it's possible he has come on in leaps and bounds since then, but if he hasn't his fight with Froch will be a mismatch. After the sky talkshow thing, I wouldn't mind seeing Groves on the receiving end of the kind of beat-Down that Froch dealt out to Bute. I liked him before, though. I think GGG would beat Groves easily too.
I think he punches hard, he's explosive, but he can look so vulnerable at times when he gets clipped trading.
Well, I'm speaking on the basis of the DeGale fight that I watched in full and the Johnson fight (from which I've just seen clips) and he didn't look like a puncher to me in either fight. He beat DeGale but there was a point in the fight when he looked to be heading for trouble (around round 8-9 if I recall). I think Golovkin is a lot faster and more explosive than George Groves.
Groves isnt **** and never will be. He is in dead division and will get pummeled by caveman Carl Froch soon.
Groves has one of the best jabs in the sport. when you consider what they weigh on fight night and the fact that groves won't allow GGG to walk him down I would see nothing else but a groves win
Groves does not have a great jab. It's ok, but it is far from great. He almost got beat by DeGale who hardly managed to jab at all - but Groves wasn't authoritive enough with his own left to keep him well away.
