Boxers know how good Mayweather is. Unfortunately, some boxing fans get blinded by dislike for his unpleasant persona - a contrivance, I believe, which is simply intended to help him sell tickets.

Mayweather is a smart marketeer - he knows that people buy PPVs in great numbers because they are either strongly rooting for someone to win or someone to lose. This does not in any way diminish, however, that he is CLEARLY the greatest boxer of his era, or the fact that historically he will be regarded this way.

No question, Mosley is right. Mayweather is far and away the best fighter of this era.

Mosley takes pride in those two bombs he landed on Money. Lol rightfully so though. Not too many people can say that.

    Excellent post!
Boxers know how good he is they always praise him(Hopkins, Mosely, Mikey Garcia, Paulie M, JMM and a host of others) but haters won't give him his due because he beat their favorite fighters. I'll take what boxers say about a fighter over what some hating fans say any day.

absolutely best of this era. but i like how when he spoke of the greatest of all time...duran is always in that conversation...it's robinson for me...but leonard, ali...those guys deserve mention as well.

there's no doubt that mayweathers skill and precision in the ring is unparalleled in history. it's his accomplishments that lack. what has he done that hasn't been done? he needs a career defining victory. the one that no one thinks he can accomplish.

Can't really argue with this, however, to me he needs to fight Pac to judge who the best of this area truly is. At the moment, I'd give it to Mayweather, but there was a time, when I would have given this to Pac so it's not finished yet.

The one knock I have against Mayweather, is I don't think he actually likes to fight, not like Duran did, he likes to box and not get hurt. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but I prefer fighters who actually enjoy fighting, or in the case of SRL/Hearns, are prepared, to fight if necessary.

He could get knocked out by Manny and he would still be the best.

I agree. He needs a fight like SRL had against Hearns, or Hagler had against Hearns, or Duran had against SRL, or Barkley. Something that makes you go wow, this guy truly is special, not just in this era but in any era.
