Im having this debate with my cousin right now, I say he is. His boxing skills weren't the greatest, but he had a great hook to the body, and was a smart pressure fighter before he got his soul snatched my Floyd. In your opinion is Hatton an ATG?
Hatton has the same right to be ATG or Hall of Famer like David Haye. What did he proof against elite fighters like Floyd or Manny??
This. He accomplished little in reality. He is overrated due to massive popularity as the great british hope.
Bang on i really think the HOF has lost its status and creadability letting GAtti in, i mean if he get's in so so many should also get in, HOF should have been reserved for the real greats not just fighters who are known to fans or were exciting, 1 or 2 wins shouldn't get you into the HOF in reality hatton has one great win against Tszyu that should not be enough to get into the HOF
Well lets see his best wins Tyszu (his best win but keep in mind that Tyszu was a little past it at that point but I won't trip overall good win) Maussa (decent win against gatekeeper) Collazo (ok win Collazo almost pulled it off and had Hatton hurt a few times) Urango (good win against a average belt holder) Castillo (Castillo was past it but he did get the KO decent win) Malinaggi (good win) Overall I say he should not go in the HOF nor is he a ATG people use this term loosely I agree with some Gatti should not be in the HOF at all as well
Im pretty big on Hatton. Dude is underrated these days. At his best he was a quality quality fighter that would beat the hell out of Alvarado, Rios, Peterson, and quite a few of the other 140lbers. But, he was no ATG. HOF? Maybe
The term ATG, is used way too loosely on this forum. In my opinion only one active boxer has done anywhere near enough to be considered it and that is Bernard Hopkins. Ricky Hatton is a 1st ballot HOFamer though for sure.
