Paul Williams was a serious threat to Mayweather.

    Paul Williams grew on me.

I think his style could have given Mayweather fits. He had obvious problems with southpaws, which Mayweather isn't. But the guy had so much stamina and so much volume he could have beaten mayweather on activity. Mayweather does not have the power to hurt Williams like Martinez did. Remember that Williams fought toe to toe with Martinez in the first fight and took a million flush, huge lefts and did not get knocked out. Mayweather isn't keeping him off him.

Thing is, Willy lost to Quintana, which is bad. But still, he had the best chance out of anyone at Welter and Jr Middle to beat Mayweather. Other than perhaps Martinez at 154.

Another important point is the reach. We know Willy did not use his reach defensively, but offensively, Mayweather, who usually enjoys a reach advantage will find himself in troublr trying to avoid Willys shots by simply leaning back or rolling like he does.

I like Williams as well but the truth is he fought dumb and could have been much better with the right trainer. He gave away his reach and height. He also never could adjust and got hit by the same punches over and over. PBF would have hit Williams with the straight right hand and countered the **** outta him all night long. Williams would have been lucky to win 2 rounds against PBF

But you gotta remember that only southpaws did that to him. He could not get away from those lefts. Also, you don't think his reach and stamina alone could make it interest?. You could tell Martinez, who of course is no Mayweather defensively had a hard time because of the reach. Mayweather leans back to avoid shots, William's reach is far above anybody he ever faced.

True but Williams ring IQ and horrible defense would let him down against PBF.

I don't know Mayweather is slick and p Williams might not have been able to land the big shots. I honestly don't think Mayweather would have ever took the fight though
