Was Mosley shot against Mayweather, and even if Shane was at his peak, would Floyd have still been as dominant?
After Mosley destroyed Margarito, people (especially Posters in this forum) swore up and down will NEVER fight Mosley. And prior to that fight, in an interview with Brian Kenney, Floyd said that Mosley is a "Jittery" fighter and has NO STAMINA, "he's tires easily". It was only after Floyd carved him, is when the claims of being shot fighter. And then a fighter who name rhymes Fanny Wackiao who was considered the best fighter on the planet, when several other belt holders and unbeaten fighters were calling him out. He and his team purposely chose to fight a shot fighter who had nothing to offer (NO BELT and COMING OFF TWO POOR PERFORMANCES).
Bull****. Shane's prime was at LW and was on the slide since his 2nd fight with DLH. By the time he fought Mayweather he was shot. Just watch his life and death performance with Mayorga. Mosley dominated a style totally suited to him in Margarito - a Margarito that had just been caught using illegal hand wraps and was about to enter the ring without them. His mental state was probably all over the place worrying about being banned from the sport. Hilarious, this thread has nothing to do with 'you know who' yet *****'s in their insecurites have to point the finger in that direction :rofl:rofl
the truth is, shane at 38 was better than a prime berto bc he was a world class fighter. but he was no where near the fighter when when shane was fighting at 1999 - 2000 - THIS IF A FACT so the real question is what woud have happened if shane and floyd fought prime 4 prime. a few possible scenarios 1.) mosley, lands a big right hand on floyd and then goes ape **** on floyd bc he was a beast. 2.) mosley lands a big right hand on floyd but floyd survives. floyd then uses his superior footwork to outbox shane for the rest of the fight 3.) floyd never get clipped at all but get into good exchanges but uses his superior jab and footwork 4.) fight would have been a draw
If you want to go prime for prime with this example then It works BOTH ways, why do people always forget that!, -yes Shane was a hard hitter with a great chin and engine at lightweight. BUT -Floyd was a hard hitting combination puncher with power in both hands at SFW! Was Floyd prime against Shane? Was he fighting in his best weight division, was he the fastest he has ever been? No of course he wasn't, he was 35 years old. Most people said Floyd would never fight Shane prior to them fighting. Pacman and Roach refused Shane at WW when he was the lineal champ, they wanted him to come down to 141!!
People begged for the Mosley fight. Once Floyd beat him, Mosley was instantly "shot". I love it. Further, it is comedic gold when people talk about how Mosley was not prime at 147lbs and act as if Floyd is/was a fresh youngster at that weight.
After Mosley beat margartio people considered Mosley to be a real threat to mayweather. He wasn't in his prime and he was pushing 40, but he looked like a killer vs margartio and you're only as good as your last fight. Once mosely lost to mayweather only then were they saying he was shot to ****, heck when he fought Pacquiao he hadn't won a fight in 3 fights. People seemed to think he was legit enough for Pacquiao but he was shot for Floyd? The logic here seems to fit the agenda of the said posters.
Hindsight is 20/20. Clearly Shane wasn't the same fighter from previous years. I don't think Floyd was either. It doesn't take away from the fact that he thoroughly dominated a future Hall of Famer who, at the time, was ranked in the top three pound for pound and #1 at welter. An excellent, excellent win.
mosley beat the **** out of the "boogy monster that floyd is afraid of" margarito before he took on floyd... was mosley prime , nah was floyd? , no.... floyds prime is 130-135 days floyd deserves massive credit for taking on an opponent coming off such a dominant win of a fighter floyd himself was supposedly scared shitless of
Mosley shot before he fought Money? No! he was shot after and has never looked the same since. Those facial left jabs all night and the right hand soothed the savage beast in Shane. He looked like the same guy in training that had been there a decade before but after that fight slow deterioration started. Mostly with confidence. Money was a fight he really thought he could win but reality set in really quickly after the 2nd round.
Not shot but certainly on the down slope of his career. The guy has 50% record since what 2001? He was never that good but he certainly wasn't anywhere near prime. Yes, Floyd dominates him any period of his career. Mosley's record proves he's average.
His peak was at light weight no doubt! However he was as competitive as any fighter in that division up until the Money fight !
Sorry guys I like Floyd but shane was shot, shane was gassed in the Margarito fight right before the KO. Shane was no more than a 4 round fighter at this point of his career. Shane was able to club Margarito into submission, it didn't work on Floyd. The power is the last thing to go for most fighters, shane showed it and Mayweather made a shot shane pay for showinghim that power. Besides all of that Mayweather did something I had never seen a fighter do before when hurt. Mayweather stepped forward and didn't give Mosley punching room when he was hurt he walked Shane back to keep him on his heels.
al haymon had the fight fix.. just like mattyse vs garcia..why u idiots think they sign mattyse to al haymon protection service right b4 the fight was made.
