I think it is very possible Joe gets hit early, like Roy did. How many times have we seen Joe go down with right hands?? Sure he recovered well, but it may have been a different story in there with a HW..

Joe might be a bit more cautious if he was fighting a heavyweight.

I'm not sure what Calzaghe walked around at, probably 190? I don't think it's crazy to pick Calzaghe. Ruiz had success as a boxer, but he wasn't very good.

He would completely have to change his style, and I don't think he could punch hard while backing up like Roy could, which played a major part in that fight.

Are you saying Joe would just bloat up? Remember Roy strategically packed on muscle with the help of Mackie Shilstone as he did for Michael Spinks.. Roy kept his speed but hit even harder... Joe's power would be non existent at HW, and Ruiz wouldn't respect him at all.

A lot of people didn't respect Calzaghe's power......they ended up losing. I don't really care, I just think Calzaghe could outbox him.

Yes, he couldn't imitate Roy. He would have to beat him his own way but I think he had the tools to potentially do it. Joe had the skill to be difficult for a slower, not especially crafty guy to hit if he wanted to. At one point he had decent power. If like Roy, he planned to fight a heavyweight he could/would have done specific training to gain muscle and strength so would have had more power. He wouldn't have had huge power but I think potentially a combination of enough power and speed to make Ruiz wary. Could Calzaghe have potentially beat Ruiz? I think so. Could he have lost? I also think so.

Once again man, I do not care at all. I don't think Ruiz was very good and Joe was an expert boxer. Good chin too. Leave it alone and accept my opinion.
