Mikey Garcia is by far the most impressive fighter I've seen in a while. He is technically very good and fights a very smart fight.

When he was knocked down, he Sat there very composed and got up at the right time to give himself the most recovery time. Sure, the fact that he went down is not ideal but he was moving up in weight and got caught being a little aggressive. In addition, he was not really hurt as explained by his composure. As someone said, it's a bit like Tito who seemed to go down from single shots but was able to come back as if nothing happened.

What I really like is his boxing fundamentals. Uses his jabs very well to set up his shots and slow his opponent. Follows his jabs with combinations yet remains compact enough not to be open for counters. Has two handed power yet does not fall in love with that power like most bombers. Near the end of one of the rounds he landed a big right and Martinez was hurt but he backed away and seemed to restart his methodical breakdown. Now this might have been because of the ten second sound but he doesn't take big risks when a guy appears hurt.

He is the full package and I hope they can guide him on the right career path. I think he can beat any fighter at thjs weight but he needs to be brought on slowly but steadily. Martinez put him on his ass and there are bigger punchers out there that he should prepare for weight wise.

Would love to see Garcia tear Gary Russell's scared a$$ apart, but we all know that isn't going to happen.

 

I don't think that Rios is as bad technically as people make him out to be. He is slow and he doesn't mind getting hit, but he has good in fighting and good jab when he decides to use it like in the Peterson fight!
