Vic got rocked and was still shaken BUT the follow up punches from Donaire didnt really warrant a stoppage imo.

The follow up punch from Donaire was more a forearm then the uppercut may have landed but didnt appear to land clean. As the ref stepped in, Vic's hands were almost fully back up to his face to guard himself.

Am i 1-eyed or was that stoppage a touch premature? :-(

    This.

Don't come off desperate and petty, Aussies.

Nobody from any other continent thinks it was premature.

I had Vic up on my card as did most objective fans, and I think most of us were actually hoping to see the vet pull off the upset and get his revenge. He got stopped, however, as legitimately as he did last time. Sorry.

I've seen fights allowed to go on but it was still 1 min until the end of rd and no way Vic survives. No problem with stoppage.

I couldn't believe after going so good, that vic would leave himself open so much when the first good shot hit him near the end. both hands were down by his side ffs.

IMO, Darch (now 37) should realize he ain't the man he once was, call it quits & ignore Armenian backslappers & management. Management is only interested making a coin out of him as long as it can.
37 ain't old @ top end of weight class, but is @ his

Gutted for Vic aswell,, he did get careless,he had it won
But I feel the ref did the right thing,at first you think his ok
but his legs weren't with him,,the fighters health is the most
important thing at the end of the day.

The stoppage was early, but okay. I feel sorry for him, because he was the much better fighter at this evening.

    Agreed 100%.

The proof was the complete absence of protest by Vic or his corner....

Nonito was just winging wild shots that were barely landing. You could see in Vics expression that he was disappointed, that he had just let his revenge slip away...

Yeah, you can't let your disappointment in the way that fight turned blind you to what was going.

As much great work as Vic put in, Donaire acted like he was toying with Vic and ultimately the ref knew it was time to stop it.

    Vic wasn't coming back anyway.

Kudos to Vic for a great showing for a 37 year old against a young, super quick and powerful Donaire.

Donaire needs to show enthusiasm when things aren't going his way or he will lose badly against top opposition.

Vic should stick around for a couple more fights, if he can notch 2 wins against top 10 opposition, he should get one more crack at a big fight and retire on it win or lose.

If Vic can show that dedication outside of a revenge fight, he's no reason to not take a couple of pay days.

He should be proud of that showing despite the result.
