In all seriousness what top quality fighter has he beat outside of Cotto, one win in a 16 year career doesn't make you a HOFer

Martinez was like 10-15 fights into his career when he fought Margarito hyping that win is like hyping Clinton Mitchell

In hindsight anyone's record can be shitted on...
But lets not forget he "popped" Martinez, Cintron & Cotto's cherries.

Also beat Clottey (When the division was scared shitless of him)
Also beat the rejuvenated (Hyped Kronk version) of Cintron.

    Again **** on Kermit...
But at the time he also was one of the most avoided WW's.

    Tony fought whoever win/lose.
Add "The Punisher" to the list of fighters nobody wanted anything to do with.
Went the distance in a close fight that Williams had to give the best performance of his life.

Martinez was like 25 years old...
    (Margo was like 22)

Using that logic lets erase (Sergio's) his win over Chavez Jr. then, Afterall JC Jr. Has no amateur experience right??? Aint that the wrap they always say about Sergio?

But (very obviously) Margarito doesnt have just one win in 16 years. He has: Cotto; Martinez; Clottey and Cintron. If Ricky Hatton and Gatti makes the HoF, Margarito also has to. The HoF Committee wont be judging on emotions, like 98% of ESB.

In fact he has a better win (prime Cotto) than the current no1 P4P Mayweather (prime Corrales).

I'm a Martinez fan and I'll never hype Chavez jr as some HOF win the only reason it is notable is the hype around Chavez because of his father I'm not saying fighters don't grow and mature look at the guys who kicked Pacquiao's ass in the Philippines that doesn't mean your great.

Paul Williams I agree was avoided but Clottey, Cintron GTFOH who avoided them. Williams even though he's no great himself has my respect because at least he challenged himself going from WW to MW but Margarito come on man the Cotto win would be impressive but considering he got caught trying to cheat 6 months later the credibility in the is next to none. Regardless of who you roots for fans get so emotional if you have problems with a fighter they like that's why we're fans but a spade is a spade and at this point Margarito isn't even more accomplished than Rios

Don't know what's up with you Mexicans, you'll take a win whenever you can.

Why the **** are you backing a cheating scumbag like Margo, you see Puerto Ricans backing Resto?

Martinez was 25 years old but never went to a boxing gym till he was close to 21.. like literally, he never ever threw a punch till he was 21.. he was green as **** against concrete hands Margo, not to mention he was having a part time model during that time frame and was having visa issues in Spain.. yet the Mexicans say it was a win against prime Martinez.. :rofl

Margarito also fought and beat legit champs. Ive already given you a list: Cotto, Clottey, Cintron. These are all better fighters than those on Hatton and Gatti's resume. No one would really argue with that, so theres not much of a debate here.

Actually, Cotto is greater than Castillo. I think the boxing experts and fans would be 75-25 in favour of that statement. Beating prime Cotto is a huge win. The Martinez, Clottey and Cintron wins are just pretty additions.

I'm always up for a debate and if your points are valid I'm willing to change my opinion, but Rios & Guerrero are more proven then Clottey and Cintron and since there careers are over there is nothing they can do to change their status.

As for the Cotto/Castillo debate its closer than you'd think, Cotto is a 3-weight world champ and a HOFer Castillo is the best LW of his Era and and ATG at 135. As far as top wins Cotto has a close fight vs Mosley/Judah and Castillo in a lot of opinions has Mayweather/Casamayor.
