some of you guys dont like sleek defencive fighters, yet these fighters are the ones with healthy lives and can extend their boxing Careers, yet some of you discredit them?.. Boxing is a very Dangerous sport and is better to Shoulder Roll them punches than block them with your face... R.I.P Francisco Leal and Get will soon Magomed..
Being more defensive doesn't mean you will never be hit, but it reduces the chance, it's called damage limitation. If a defensive fighter ends up a bit punchy, imagine what they'd be like if they weren't defensive?
hes had over 90 fights. multiply the sparring that goes on before each fight...defensive or not, hes been hit a **** ton over the last 20 years

Ok, but Wilfredo Benitez is in bad shape by all reports, and the man was a defensive wizard. And there's bangers like LaMotta, Basilio, Chuvalo, if I am not mistaken, who seem fine well into old age.
Good point. I really think it's a crap shoot; luck of the draw. Some fighters are affected worse than others, regardless of style.
The cut is harsh. We can read 'bout the top fighters making $millions but most boxers end up making less than you would on the 9 to 5, specially when you figure in injuries etc. Dunno whether it's just me, but I've really noticed it this year - y'know, thinking about what it means to the families when a fighter gets hurt or god forbid, killed in the ring. Anyways. Best wishes to Mago and Family and all those who've had loved ones hurt or killed in the ring.
Not always correct! Sometimes being defensive gets you in more trouble, you start slick and young at divisions where your height, youth & speed can get you out of trouble. People talk **** about you...You age, your reflexes slow down & you are possibly fighting at a higher weight. With less reach/height advantage, your knowledge increased & you don't want to quit or lose. So you stay longer in the game and eventually have to fight for your life & take some shot you will never been hit with a decade ago :bart It works both ways
