Rigo vs Ward vs Floyd

Judging by the pure talent and skills it has to be Rigondeaux. The skills he displayed as a boxer aren't matched by anyone, not even Mayweather, who is Imo the second out of 3.

For the guy who said that Rigo has to prove himself, no he doesn't. He won 2 gold medals already and there were people considering him the extremely skilled boxer even before he moved to pros. Then he schooled Donaire, a guy who was considered one of the best in world. Not to mention that Rigo was notably smaller and less powerful. People who follow him already knew he was the best before he beat Nonito and once again, he doesn't need to prove anything.

As for Floyd, he is also one of those guys that don't come very often. Although Imo not as talented as Rigo, he's also very smart and uses all his advantages very well. I don't see him losing any of the next couple of fights, especially if he fights Khan or some of the current 140 guys. It would be very interesting to see him against Pacquiao, Bradley or against Lara at 154. Imo those 3 guys would give him the toughest test out of the bunch.

And finally Andre Ward, he's also a very good and clever boxer. In my opinion he has already proven himself and doesn't need to move up in weight more than going to LHW. It would be absurd to go to Cruiser and even more absurd to try to compete at HW. Imo he's the best SMW since Joe Calzaghe and it would be interesting to see him against Kovalev and Stevenson. I have no doubts that he's better than them as a boxer, but it is a question whether he'll be able to keep it up against fighters who are that strong.

But thats different to smarts Floyd and Ward are smarter and more all rounded than him

 

Floyd has more skill than Ward
Rigo has more skill Than Ward
Floyd has more wins in different weight classes against many different type fighters than Rigo.
So have to say Floyd is the best but Rigo could become the best if he has some better fights in the next few years.
As far as weight class Ward does not normally fight people who are bigger than him but he has done well when he has ( Dawson, Rodrigez)
But to say he would have to fight Hw is crazy.
If ward could clean out LHW by beating (hopkins,Kovalev,stevens) That would be very impressive.

 

Three good boxers but it's not close. Neither Rigo nor Ward come close to Floyd defensively. Rigo has great hand speed, footwork, defense and is great fighting on the outside, but has limited inside fighting skills. Ward has great defense, ring generalship and special awareness but even he would tell you Floyd is better. Rigo is faster with hands and feet (at least partially because of his size/weight difference) than Floyd but Floyd can do just about anything else better than the other two. It's not debateable.

 

Multidivision champions at the lower weight get too much credit IMO. If you look at Floyd or even Pacquiao, they were always going to move up as their bodies matured. If Ward ever manages to beat legitimate cruiserweight champions, that will be as if not more impressive than Floyd winning a LMW belt.

History remembers fights more than it does skills. If Ward maintains his run and continues to beat champions at SMW, LMW and even CW, then even though he probably is not as athletically blessed as the other two, he might still end up the greater fighter.
