How can anyone talk **** about that performance The guy was coming off surgery and a long layoff, and pitched a shut out against a decent contender. Pathetic hating.
Rodriguez is a limited fighter chosen to be an easy opponent for Ward's comeback after surgery and a long lay off. He's pretty much unproven on the world stage and the best opponent he fought before Ward was Grachev, someone who's only win of note was a controversial SD over Erdei in a fight many thought Erdei won. I admit I put a small VCash bet on Rodriguez because of the odds but nobody really expected him to do anything but loose. If Rodriguez is truely the 3rd best fighter in the Super Middleweight division today then it merely exposes what I have been saying for ages, that the Super Six tournament flattered to decieve and this era is just as weak as the last one.
Hahahahha. I thought that without Pac-Floyd bull**** this site will be a better place but I realize that most people are too involved with their nationality and... The hate for GGG and Ward is sad they are both great fighters and interesting characters.
No kidding. Just once, it'd be nice f'ing break to see guys appreciate what another boxer accomplishes even if he's not "their guy" instead of being so damn paranoid and threatened all the time. Personally, I'm a bigger fan of Golovkin than Ward, but it makes no sense to make up **** to try and diminish him. Andre's a great fighter, and last night was a very good win (especially considering the circumstances).
You must be mad? There is no way he is ' probably the number three ', there are plenty of fighters ahead of him. Froch, Stieglitz, Kessler, Bika, Abraham, Groves, DeGale - Just a few obvious names who are ranked higher than this guy.
After Ward, there is a long gap until you get to Froch. After Froch, there is a long gap until you get to like a dozen guys in a twelve-way third-place tie. Rodriguez isn't necessarily above any of the other several guys in h2h ability or resume, but he isn't necessarily below them either. They're all sort of riding the same plateau...well below Froch, who in turn is well below Ward. My original point stands, and it seems nobody who quoted it understood the question being asked. Of Bika (looked beatable against Periban in a fight he was supposed to beast)), Oosthuizen (looked horribly mediocre against Gonzales and Maderna, getting a gift draw over the former and struggling with the latter whom Rodriguez beat far more clearly), Stieglitz (sure, he is enjoying a bit of a late-career surge and the stoppage of Abraham is nice...but let's face it, Abraham sucks now and was given entirely too much trouble by Shihepo and De Carolis and was honestly never a top super middle to begin with despite what the World Boxing Classic hype machine said...and let's remember that Stieglitz was knocked out by the B-level Andrade and C+ Berrio), DeGale (loads of natural athletic talent but wtf has the kid done with it besides lose his biggest test in Groves? He looked poor against Davis yesterday and Bozic proved a real handful for him not long ago, so he isn't exactly riding a current hot streak either...), Groves (seems to have looked pretty solid to date but his biggest legitimate threat as of when he fought them has been underachiever DeGale...Froch may soon expose this kid as not belonging near world class...) - which of these is demonstrably a full clear level above Rodriguez? :think I am not saying Rodriguez is very good. He isn't. He's just okay. That is kind of my point. There is one great super middleweight (Ward), one very good super middleweight (Froch) and then a bunch of just-okay super middleweights who are really all interchangeable on any list at this point, all with resumes and skill-sets that can be picked apart just as easily as Rodriguez's. All those guys are decent, so you can't say the division is shallow (some divisions in boxing are a lot more barren in terms of talent compared pound for pound with 168..), but there is a huge drop-off in depth after the big couple of names up top. Ward rematching Froch is the best thing he can do at 168 and some would probably slate him for it. Otherwise, anything else he does is about equally as non-creditable...that is, less creditable than a pointless rematch with Froch. The schooling of Rodriguez last night gets him the same amount of credit that a Bika rematch, Abraham rematch, Stieglitz, Periban, Maderna, Gonzales, Oosthuizen, DeGale, or Dirrell would get him.
but ib what are rodriguez best win gravech who was getting tooled before knockout agianst sillakh, george i scored 97-93 looked mediacre agianst club fighter stevenson destoyed. a too green excalera
Yeah, how about the rest? You can poke holes in all their resumes. Stieglitz busting up Abraham in the rematch - so what? Abraham has always sucked ever since he moved up from middle. He looks terrible lately and should have arguably lost to Shihepo (and let the barely average De Carolis make it competitive). After that, what is Stieglitz's best achievement...in fresh memory, or ever? Groves came out smelling rosy in the domestic match-up with DeGale when both were green prospects, all well and fine - but since rising up to a higher level? Shot Johnson? Sierra whom Pantera blitzed years ago? What's so great on his ledger? You can do the same for pretty much all but Ward and Froch. (and Kessler - but again, he is retired).
Rodriguez is not a Super middle weight. It is pointless and a complete waste of time to rate him as at 168! He didnt make weight in any of his recent fights. If he cant make weight for the biggest fight and all the world titles at 168 vs Andre Ward, hes never making weight for that weight class. All Rodriguez has is power and that will be less effective at LHW.
Forza you are boring. I'm not a ward fan but he was actually entertaining last night once the ref got involved. I enjoyed the fight.
Just how hard is it to give credit where it's due? I mean, what has Ward done to upset you this much?
